Perhaps we have our wires crossed - I was referring back to the Pompey game as per my earlier posts. I think @JonButterfield@JonButterfield was referring to today’s game also.

Myself and @bantam2708@bantam2708 were discussing Portsmouth being one dimensional.

Not on about being passionate for the club - passionate to do a good job, to get stuck in, to lead and win over the crowd. Motivation and desire go a long way.

Quoted yourself is incredibly poor form, but let's not pretend the 'don't celebrate a point' thing isn't entirely predictable.

If there were a website purveying stock responses, they'd make a fortune.

You're not telling us anything new but then on the other hand it does get a bit boring coming on here to moan about how sh*t we are every single week so please excuse us for enjoying the respite of a decent result this week and the perhaps optimistic inference that things might be getting better.

It depends. Since Hopkin's arrival we've had several threads on here praising the effort and improvement in performances and every single time it's amounted to nothing which is why we are 7 points from safety. Sooner or later we are to have to string a run of games together and pick up some wins. Oxford next week would be a start.

Oxford next week has to be a start.

We've to beat Oxford or the gap from safety will be bigger.

A point yesterday wasn't good enough but we needed not to lose.

    If we don't beat Oxford then I will say this;

Bradford City will be a division 2 club next season.

I love everything about Jones, and the impact he had here as a player, in the short time he was here. That said, we still need someone in who Hopkin truly believes has the right credentials to assist him. If Hopkin believes Jones is the right man, then I would be right behind him

A point was good enough yesterday Fordy. We are not going to win every game between now and end of season.
However, yesterdays battling performance and point now needs to be backed up with a home win against Oxford

Has to be Hopkin's choice. No coincidence that two players brought in since Hopkin started, O'Brien and Caddis, have looked tough no compromising players. The sort you need in a lower league slug fest. Leaving out our weaker players through one reason or another, the likes of Wright, Mellor, Riley, Bruenker and playing our better players is a start. I still think Doyle will come good if we sign a better target man that Bruenker, and an imposing centre back is a must.

We are going in the right direction but repairing the runaway Rahic rollercoaster is going to take time, something we have very little of. Oxford next week could be the make or break game of the season. In November FFS.

Well it didn't close the gap, so no a point wasn't good enough.

The performance was better that was it.

However, 3 points against Oxford is a must.

The point is we've just played, arguably the 3rd and 4th best teams (l think Barnsley and Sunderland are and will be streets ahead) and looked comfortably certainly deserving to be unbeaten in both

This shows the squad quality is OK, certainly above relegation quality, but they must now keep up this new mentally strong attitude as it's that which will dictate whether we stay up.

Evans is getting almighty stick on their message boards. Take therefore his statements with a pinch of salt. Usual managers rhetoric when under pressure. Ie battered them, unlucky, ref poor etc. He would never say his attacking threats were nullified so had to resort to crosses as says outmanaged. Strong middle of the pitch meant they had to go wide. No coincidence.

Don’t think it’s helped having half a squad missing. And our better results have coincided with having a few more available for those games

The results haven't gone our way since Hopkin took over the reins but this new found stronger mentality you mention is down to him.
I applaud David Hopkin for what he's trying to do under difficult circumstances and sincerely hope once the club resembles some form of normality and stability again, happy times will return to Valley Parade with him in charge he deserves a break in fortune on effort alone.

3 points and wins will improve their mental attitude far quicker.

Apart from a 10 minute spell after they scored, I've no idea where you're coming from. They increasingly retreated in the second half as slowly we gained more confidence. Clearly they were in "3rd gear" when they allowed Akpan to create and fail to take that great chance at the end

The performance we gave against them last season at home, was actually no better. Peterborough are now a better team than last season so 1-1 is also fine

You seem to be under the impression that unless we win five on the bounce we're doomed. The reality is that if we close the gap, to 5th bottom, at the small rate of two points per five matches - we'll end up at least two points clear. I'm not celebrating this, but it's ridiculous to think that unless we suddenly win lots of matches we're down. What we mustn't do is drift further. I'll be fine with been within 4 points at the end of next month etc. It's little steps, similar to when Parky took over, that is the reality

I'm glad you brought up 12 months ago as we've been terrible at home, since we lost that great home unbeaten run (not after McCall was sacked). So the recent Portsmouth performance, is bettered by few other home performance - with just four of them been last season (Doncaster, Oxford, Portsmouth and Shrewsbury)

Of course this reflects the slump - hence why performances and draws against good teams have to be counted as progress

Totally agree the guys had no luck what so ever eith injuries etc.and the negative vibe round the club caused by edin. Id evan say if the worst was to happen and we were relegated. Id stick with hopkin. But i honestly believe we will stay up but defo need a win next week.

The question is, does this team have the quality and just needs the coaching sorting,or will Jan window be vital even though they are only talking about a couple of additions?
