I reckon we’ll beat em by at least 4 though. And probably make a late run for the playoffs.

 

No one around us thought it was offside at the time. The discussions only started when people read it on blogs and heard it on the radio. Bet it was close. It was a right scruffy pass. Not sure if the defenders were sleeping or what. It took us a bit of time to adjust to their new formation in the second half.

 

Can't even believe some of them were worthy of yellow cards.

Ref gave us hardly anything all afternoon aside from that handball. I was almost surprised when their lad fell over in the panalty area towards the end and he didn't give a penalty!

 

I don't see the relevance of calling fellow fans questionable judgements from years ago and suggesting it makes their opinion invalid. It speaks of desperation to win an argument at all costs, given that you've agreed with several of my posts since those days

Incidentally, I think Bates's experience was vital at times in keeping us in matches. He wasn't an unmitigated disaster, but nor was he as good as I thought he might be

 

Thought we did well today

First 15 minutes was all us and we deserved to be in front.

They came back into it but created little. Pattern was set for me after about 30 minutes where they had possession and when we win the ball we didn't have a way to get it out of our half without hoofing it.

We defended solidly. They created little. Think perhaps our different formation from previous games threw them.

Second half we struggled to adjust to their new formation. We didn't start confidently. They scored. We could have collapsed but we steeled ourselves and dug in.

Jim coming on made a difference. Think he's better than Akpan on today's showing. Similar abilities defensively but Jim has more composure on the ball.

We can't be hitting long to poor Doyle all day. It doesn't work. We need to find a way to play it out more and perhaps Chicksen could follow Caddis' example in how he linked with Ball?

All around, we deserved a point. I worry about the FA cup though. If we do beat Aldershot I think Peterborough will have learnt from today's game and just the fact they can bring on Toney, Bassong and Cummings is unbelievable. Difference in bench strength was something else.

 

Agreed. I'll bet it was marginal, whichever way.

 

Tom Eaves would be top of my list. Liverpool lad so we’d be nearer to home. Scousers seem to do well here. Out of contract next summer too, so he may be available.

 

Don't forget all them baba Everton kids we signed... Kearney, Symes, Phelan.... Though I rated Schumacher.

Hard to tell if offside, as long ball with camera footage not in line with the last man but a big gap between OC and RM.. could OC have intercepted? A little easy for Toney to run on to

 

I give you evidence of what Gary Bowyer said to me at half time during the Coventry City game, now I don't have a problem if you don't believe it, but he said the situation at Valley Parade after the sacking of Stuart McCall and Simon Grayson turning the job down after doing it for a short period were well know inside football.
I even posted it at the time.

 

I think criticism of not stopping the ball from Maddison is unfair.

He was pinging balls around, sort of mid-range passing. That's more a defensive issue, as you don't expect players to try through balls from near the half way line, but that's the lads range of passing coming into play.

Probably the best mid-to-lomg range passer in League One. If he were more determined and a better athlete, not a static ball-pinger, he'd be in the Championship.

Wrong reason. You may as well say pick someone from the crowd who is passionate about our club

 

Anyone know the attendance and how many we had there? Guessing 800 or so but there was not much of a tannoy at the back of the stand.
