Just got back and wow what a difference leaving the ground feeling rather proud of the team.

For all their huff and puff Posh only had 1 shot on target of note-the goal.

Defensively we looked quite organised and Caddis was a class apart with his game management. Loved in the first half when he ran to *ahem* collect the ball in the corner near us for a dead ball and promptly kicked it past the rozzers and behind the stand and just ran off. Class!! Just what we need. Otherwise he made some telling interceptions and read the game really well.

Message to DH-find us 4 more like him and we will be more than OK.

Midfield-Akpan was OK until his booking then faded. L Obrien-where the hell does he get that energy from?
Payne tried hard as did Ball in patches.

Doyle was completely out of the game with a 6ft 5in defender winning all the headers.

The City fans-Absolute class act today. Looked to be 800+?

Best chant: how shit must you be, were winning away!

Posh fans-Is this a library? Hardly heard them-poor support for what looks a good team.

Follow this up with 3pts against Oxford and that will be a good weeks work IMHO.

 

Always said we might get something from this one. Massive effort needed against Oxford now, the fans need to get behind the players because this could be a make or break game. If we win it could turn around our whole season. Great escape chant anybody?

Just back. I enjoyed that away day. Not much mention of O'Donnell, but I thought he was crucial in getting us a point today. A tidy performance indeed, and my man of the match.

 

Just got back from what was a terrific away day. It wasn't a spectacular performance in terms of quality, but it was a fantastic backs to the wall defensive effort which I'll admit, I didn't think this group was capable of.

O'Donnell had nothing to do except catch cross after cross, which he did very well indeed. I was disappointed with posh as they only really had one way of playing, get it out wide and cross it in, which was surprising given the quality they have.

Defence was the best it's been this season. They had a shape which they stuck to and were extremely disciplined. Caddis was a big positive in the back line with some strong challenges. Although Toney scored, the three centre backs didn't give him, Godden or Cummings a sniff all game.

Midfield was okay, LOB full of energy but didn't have his best game on the ball, Akpan was Akpan and JOB was solid when he came on and composed in the ball. Ball and Payne were superb offensively and defensively, worked so hard and gave our wing backs protection they needed.

Good to hear the couple of Edin out related chants and interesting that Mark Lawn was in attendance.

Must win next week now but a performance like this will give them a lot of confidence.

 

What makes you say that (not having a go) but I've seen mark at least twice at away games, Claret & Amber running through his body.

 

Mark Lawn is I understand a good friend of the Posh chairman. This might explain his presence in the director's box.

 

More importantly how many of you went to the bars and pubs I recommend!?

Think he was sat in directors box. His Bentley was parked outside the away end in the directors Car park.

 

We draw a game and some people are ecstatic.

Almost as bad as celebrating the Pompey / Sunderland losses.

We're 1/8 to go down and unless we start winning games I can't see any way out of this mess.

 

I don't think anyone is ecstatic, but let's give credit where it's due.

 

A bit harsh mate, against Sunderland and Portsmouth we played well enough to maybe have got something from both games, whereas today we played we and were a little unlucky to not come away with all three points.
Yes there is a long way to go and unless we get three points against Oxford today means nothing, but what it does do IMO is give Hopkin and the players something to build on.

Factually inaccurate were 1/3 to go down with William Hill. But the reality without the finess is your right .Happy over a draw when we are doomed.
