I don't think there's a cat in hell's chance the game will be on. But if it is, if you're anyone who's in a higher risk category for COVID-19 (age, general health), I wouldn't even think about going to a City game.

What will be interesting, is how does the EFL manage the rest of the season? This won't blow over in a week or two, it'll get worse. Is the season abandoned and written off? Does it end now and all league places remain as-is? Do they suspend the season by a month and end it a month later? I think the last option is most likely, for now. There's already talk that the Euros will be moved back to next summer, to allow the higher leagues to do the same.

 

It's over mate, trust me, it ain't gonna happen...

Bet @Swindon @Swindon_1969 will be gutted if the season is written off.

For me the answer is end the season now and the tables are what they are. Winners go up eg Leeds, West Brom, Swindon etc

EFL use emergency money to cover costs for clubs.

This isn't going away as yet.

 

It's not a 4 week problem any more, looking at up to 16 weeks...it's over..

You could very well be right.

 

The biggest problem in the domino effect is - who gets relegated from the premier league...? As it stands, Villa would go down. But they have a game in hand, which if they won, would keep them up. They could very easily make a legal case that it would be unfair to relegate them on that basis. And you're talking about many, many millions of pounds. It's a messy, messy process. Unprecedented.

 

They play that game behind close doors.

 

Season void, no promotions, no relegations, no cups, is the only answer....strange,dangerous times....

 

Possibly. Say they win it - that sends Watford down. They then make a case that its unfair because the remainder of their games are against opposition lower in the table then Villa's, so they'd reasonably make a case that relegation would be unfair because it hasn't be a fair and equitable season. Same principle with Champions League qualification - worth millions and millions of pounds. There's no simple or easy answer. The 'neatest' is probably just to call the season void, but even then, some clubs miss out and will fairly very harshly done by. It's nailed on that Liverpool won't 'fully' win the league, and yet its inevitable. One of the best ever league performances and they'll forever have an * next to it.

 

You have also got to question whether next season will kick off on time now. I doubt it myself
