That has been the point I have made several times when that quote has been used, they know the time span of when they will receive the last payment, maybe Rupp could loan the club the outstanding transfer money and as it is paid back it goes straight into his bank accountant.
Unfortunately we have seen with the Cleverley deal we missed out on because Tom ran his contract down, then went for free to the club who paid the best salary

Thanks for that @Nick_W_@Nick_W_ I wasn't aware of that was the case, save Rupp giving his club a loan.

I'll ignore your poor attempt at humour Bronco but you still haven't answered why you believe that any sell-on fee won't get paid in one lump sum. Go on, explain it to me!

Because transfer fees aren't paid in one lump sum, so neither will the sell on fee.

Because Edin told all who attended the fans forum that the money is paid in installments over a period, will that do ?,

I also didn't realise as @Nick_W_@Nick_W_ had posted "Different rule when dealing with Scottish clubs, you get the money upfront. It's just in case they build the wall back up and you never see them again".

As I say do keep up.

Transfer fees negotiated openly between two clubs are paid in accordance with the payment terms negotiated between the two clubs. If the clubs agree for the fee to be paid upfront then that's what happens. If they agree to pay it in a few instalments then that's what happens. If they agree to pay it over several years then that's what happens.

It's simply down to what the two clubs agree; there are no FA or EFL rules on this.

Any sell-on fee from the selling club to the original selling then follows the same pattern as the latest transfer arrangement. If the latest transfer fee is all upfront, then any selling is similarly all upfront.

That might well be the case in particular instances but it is a matter of what has already been agreed between the two clubs involved.

Well as I was quoting Edin that would suggest how transfer dealing have been done in the past, I doubt very much we paid the Charlie Wyke transfer fee up front. I'd suggest when the likes of Neymar, Lukaku, Pogba and the rest of the multi million fees are payed they are not payed up front

I can't speak for the mega buck players of other clubs but looking at the club's accounts for last season, we paid out over £510k on transfer fees for players. I'd be surprised that it could have been that high without including all of the £250k we paid for Charlie in that figure.

You might be correct I'm just quoting Edin on the night when he emphasised that all transfer fees were not paid in one lump sum when someone had pointed out there were outstanding money still to come from clubs, I passed comment that also works the other way.

If Swansea keep McBurnie and he fires them straight back into the Premier League, it’ll be worth much more than £4m. And if he doesn’t they would still be entitled to compensation for him as an u23 player who has played in the Premier League, Championship and at International Level. I’m sure they would still get a sizeable fee for him anyway.
