With Swansea now all but mathematically relegated what will happen with Oliver McBurnie ?

He has a year left on his contract and we have a substantial sell on clause.

He looks to be developing into a good Championship striker. I'd be surprised if they sold him now.

These two posts sum up Bradford City perfectly
We are looking to see if we get extra money if one of our ex players gets a transfer and then saying he is a good championship striker and won't be sold Both good posts but how frustrating is this ethos of our club, get a good young player and sell him on What's wrong with us keeping a bright young star and building a team that's good enough to get us into the championship and keep us there
Some will say the money will be used to reinvest !!!! but why sell someone who has the credentials to do that and then search for the elusive next prospect Not much of a future for our club doing this it shows a distinct lack of ambition
Good luck to Ollie seeing the highlights of his performances I wish we would have kept him

It's hardly a new ethos when Ollie was sold by the previous ownership is it?

It's the way we've always viewed any young or promising player.

It's the present ethos of the club as well (but stronger) would like to see some promising players wear the claret and amber and do well Yes it's the way we have always viewed young talent and that's why we have been in the bottom two divisions as long as we have

I know it's the present ethos of the club but it's certainly not "new". McBurnie being a prime example to sit alongside Delph, Cleverley, Wisdom and the like. There's lots to criticise the current owners for but it's a tad unfair to criticise them for actions taken by the previous owners or claim things we've always done are "new".

It's not exactly a new ethos is it, we have largely sold our developed players has as most lower league clubs.. there are exceptions like O'brien and Richards but most go when the big bucks are offered.
The difference now is that for better or worse we are proactively trying to develop players for resale by financially investing in the product.
May work, may not but it's not new to us or any other lower level club that they sell their young starlets.

True but still would and am sure you would like to see them play for us
Let's just show some ambition for the first team
You never know might just add to our reduced season ticket sales

It's the nature of the beast. All clubs lose their best players to bigger clubs we are no exception. In an ideal world we would keep the likes of McBurnie etc but when a club offers cold hard cash on the table we are not in a position to turn it down.

That's why they remain a "lower level league club"

Of course but I'm also realistic enough to know that players capable of playing in the championship (or higher) don't want to kick around in league 1. Why would they?

If we have a player who is capable of that then the best we can hope for is a decent income out of them as they go on their way.

The difference for me being the last owners openly said it was a way of surviving getting sell on payments periodically, where as it is the new owners policy of selling on anyone the club have developed yet we were given to believe it was not a necessaty to stay afloat.

Possibly. It's also just a reality of our current place in the pyramid.

Would you be happier if they said it was to keep us from going under?

A bit of honesty wouldn't go a miss, you know like we have a 3 year plan to be in the Championship then you read Grayson article in the T&A and think on a midtable budget ?, Grayson says the owners need to tell the fans that their expectations are too high with the player budget on offer, can't wait for Edin to make that quote infront of an audience if City fans.

So if we have a mid table budget, and that plays out next season. Where are our ambitions? What happened to the plan? Is this now a long term plan? Are we going to become a feeder club? I honestly don’t know what the plan is anymore. The one thing I know will happen, our fan base will continue to fall. I do not want to be a feeder club, I have no intention of watching a non competative team.

What we should be asking is: "how good are our youth coaches and talent scouts?". McBurnie was crap when he played for us. That's why we sold him. Someone obviously saw something in him and took a punt. Same with the others.
If we want to progress youngsters without selling them, then we're going to have to do as SG recommended and improve our training facilities.

A lot of it is about expectations yes - but those expectations were set by Rupp & Rahic announcing their 3 year plan for promotion to the Championship followed by progression to the premier league. They said this when they took over and they've re-stated it since. Either they're trying to feed us bullshit to aid support of them and/or season ticket sales or they're incredibly deluded. Either way it's not good!
