If anyone says that at the time Swansea made the offer they would have turned down £200,000+ with a substantial sell on clause for a player that only looked like he'd been thrown in far too soon then they are quite simply lying.

Absolutely nothing McBurnie did in those games suggested he had a big future at PL or Championship level and I'd also suggest that had we kept him then his development would have been no where near it has been while at Swansea.

He looks to be developing into a good Championship striker. I'd be surprised if they sold him now.

I know it's the present ethos of the club but it's certainly not "new". McBurnie being a prime example to sit alongside Delph, Cleverley, Wisdom and the like. There's lots to criticise the current owners for but it's a tad unfair to criticise them for actions taken by the previous owners or claim things we've always done are "new".

Absolute poppycock. Do you recall ever seeing the likes of Delph, Wisdom, Cleverley or Green in a 1st team shirt? These boys were sold before we had even seen them play. At least the current owners are wanting us to develop them into 1st team players before cashing in on them.

As has been said already, if you want to beat up the current Chairmen, there are plenty of reasons to do so. Stop making up new ones....!

I'm surprised Swansea want to sell him, given that he's already proven himself in the championship

If McBurnie had stayed at CIty he would never have developed into the player he has. Parkinson would have released him before McCall even started.

Why bother saying there isn't a sell on clause?

A simple Google search would prove you wrong @Yorkshire baller@Yorkshire baller.

Why do people just post shite as fact when they don't know what they're talking about?

It's the nature of the beast. All clubs lose their best players to bigger clubs we are no exception. In an ideal world we would keep the likes of McBurnie etc but when a club offers cold hard cash on the table we are not in a position to turn it down.

That was PP’s gamble? Everyone knows he couldn’t tell the difference between a goal scorer and a barn door!

He was given just 2 starts in the league. His other appearances were sub appearances towards the end of matches. He looked lively and dangerous when he was brought on as a sub and I could definitely see future potential at the time.

He was just 17 when he first started getting played and was 18 by the time he left. Comparing McBurnie with players who are 23 and 24 and who have played many more competitive matches is unfair.

Different rule when dealing with Scottish clubs, you get the money upfront. It's just in case they build the wall back up and you never see them again.

Because transfer fees aren't paid in one lump sum, so neither will the sell on fee.

It's hardly a new ethos when Ollie was sold by the previous ownership is it?

It's the way we've always viewed any young or promising player.

A lot of it is about expectations yes - but those expectations were set by Rupp & Rahic announcing their 3 year plan for promotion to the Championship followed by progression to the premier league. They said this when they took over and they've re-stated it since. Either they're trying to feed us bullshit to aid support of them and/or season ticket sales or they're incredibly deluded. Either way it's not good!

I thought he stood out a mile and said he'd play at a higher level, others just wanted a goal and were not looking for or bothered about anything else. He's 6'+, fast and very mobile, a threat on the ground or in the air and scored goals for fun in a relegated team. He's worth £5m minimum at the moment and probably double that in 12 months.

An opening bid of £4 mill, a good place to start.

That has been the point I have made several times when that quote has been used, they know the time span of when they will receive the last payment, maybe Rupp could loan the club the outstanding transfer money and as it is paid back it goes straight into his bank accountant.
Unfortunately we have seen with the Cleverley deal we missed out on because Tom ran his contract down, then went for free to the club who paid the best salary
