To be fair @Mickey bantam I haven't heard any single player get berated even given the last 4 months, but Shay did say it was a big step up from Accrington.

Last season about transfer deadline day I was I. Hospital down south in the next bed was a Pompey fan we had just signed Marc McNulty this lad had seen him at Portsmouth and said you have a good one there. Before joint Sheffield he had scored loads in Scotland and since he left us has scored 24 for Coventry he just needed games to get match fitness and his eye in important for a striker. The same thing applies for McCarten give him a run of games

 

Every game? You saw that much of him? According to my work colleague, he was played on the left, on the right, as a secondary striker, but most games he played ‘in the hole’.

It’s irrelevant anyway, as I can’t see him staying after the end of the season. He played ok in patches tonight, but still looked like he was blowing out of his arse after 70mins or so.

And rewinding back to January, I recall an interview where he was ‘disappointed with how the window had gone’. It then became apparent there had been interest but we weren’t prepared to let him go. I’d suggest his ‘disappointment’ indicates he would have been open to any move.
