Well there I agree with you I didn’t think he looked particularly fit when he came on the other night either but that applies to a few others.The fitness set up this year has been crap in my opinion

 

He has to be more professional than that, it's his career, not a kickabout on a Sunday morning. He really does need to buck his ideas up next season if he's still here. We are a team with a mid table budget and a small squad because of it. We can't afford to carry passengers because he might be a bit overawed or feeling a bit sorry for himself. There are plenty of other players who would quite happily take his place. Shape up or ship out.

 

I disagree. The whole attacking shape of the team was amended to shoehorn him in, at the start of the season. We didn't get off to the best of starts, so he gave way as he was impacting on others.

We were much better when we went to 442 and McCartan doesn't fit into that.

 

The only hope is he needed a season to find his feet. Hopefully, he's another Will Atkinson.

 

The owner has had a nighmare. It's got to be wages over transfer fees in League One. Unless you're paying for that guaranteed goalscorer who will get you 25 a season.

 

Whether he's good or bad, does anyone actually understand why the Jimminy Cricket (excuse my language) we paid £200,000+ for Shay McCartan?

TBF to McCall, he tried at the start of the season but soon realised McCartan was crap.

 

We need a squad though? If we can keep Wyke and get him signed up for a further 2 years, Jones, Dennis and Bruenker I would be fairly happy.

None of them have any pace. I think we'd need at least 1 striker with pace in there

 

You are correct in a small squad you cannot carry passengers as it leaves us short and fewer players who can be rested leading to potentially more injuries.

According to some of our players McCarten is the most skill full and talented player in our squad. They say he's amazing in training , but unfortunately for us he just can't seem to replicate this in a game. Maybe he doesn't have the confidence when playing in front of a big crowd especially when he tries something and it doesn't come off and he's berated by the crowd. We definitely haven't seen the best of him and maybe need a manager who can give him the confidence to go out and express himself.

 

I think there is something in this. The other aspect, as others have mentioned, is fitness. From what I've seen, he has a huge amount of work to do in this area. He needs to be fit enough to last ninety minutes.

There have definitely been glimpses of promise from him. He looks as though he has got a bit of pace as well.

I hope he gets a chance tonight upfront with Charlie Wyke.

 

Anyone who played that day against Chelsea can't be all that bad................................................unless you include some plonker called Mohamed Salah who was dragged off after 70 minutes and now he's a world beater .
