Brighton and Bournemouth are in one of the most affluent areas of the country, we are polar opposite Grumpy. The principles of football in terms of spending for success haven't change but the amounts involved have quite significantly. We do have a potentially good supporter base but only at rock bottom prices and unfortunately that doesn't pay the bills as your wages increase in the higher divisions.

It isn't if you need wins. You need players you can count on.

    Where's Devine anyway?

Are you trying to tell us that consistent investment in players coincides with their premiership status? You'll give some them on here a heart attack.

Transfermarkt sez Buckley is mainly a right sided winger,so dylan Connolly going back to get loan players down?

He can play on the left which will be a boon as Zeli cannot even manage 1 in 4 games at the moment.

BFG was a pied piper, an amazing salesman and, using his skills, made us reach for the stars, we've never had anybody like him, before or after. TBh it's been shit since he went, no fun.

To fair to our supporters @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart we also had a good support base in the Richmond days and that was before we had rock bottom season ticket prices. I remember having a friendly argument with my Bradford Bulls supporting work colleague, it was 1996 and super league had just got going and the Bulls averaged 10,000 that season. He commented that City would never achieve an average crowd of that number. Well in our first season back in the 2nd tier we we're getting over 15,000 after the new midland road stand opened and 9-10 thousand before it opened. We averaged 13,700 that season and beat the Bulls average for the next 5 years. It was far more for a season ticket in those days than it is now but we still got the support.

That was all down to the magic of BFG. Before he came in the club was a sinking ship, crowds were dwindling form already low numbers. In the early 90s both what was Bradford Northern and Bradford City were clubs with no ambition, only a remit to just survive. I supported both clubs and saw the rise (and eventual demise) of both.
The rise of both clubs started with the impetus of new ownership and innovative marketing campaigns, it was no fluke or a lucky hit. A lot of hard work and investment behind the scenes coupled with ambitious driven directorship saw the rise of the sporting land in the city of Bradford.
I remember being at a Bulls pre season game against Keighley, nearly 8,000 turned up. From then on for the next 10/15 years you felt part of something special due in large to the marketing genius of the late Peter Deakin. Same with Richmond, his dogged determination to succeed knew no bounds. He didn't need no cheap season ticket gimmicks, he let the football do the sales pitch.

When we had 1 win in 21 we were in a new division where the generally accepted target was to consolidate and we were still sat in the top half. 1 win in 21 is never good but we were still ticking along with lots of draws and achieving what we were expected to do.

You seen to be trying to directly correlate Bowyers style with PPs just because they both like to have a target man but it's literally the only similarity. It's like saying McCall's style correlates with Pep's because they both like to play from the back. Its chalk and cheese.

Going back to the Richmond days, the ‘kid for a quid’ was the start of us going to VP on a regular basis (25 years ago!). So a positive initiative.
However I recall that he signings of Ashley Westwood, reputedly on £18K a week and Benito Carbone on £40K a week. Their salaries alone, were way over the total combined income of Season Tickets at that stage. It was at that point I started to think that the financial model was not sustainable.
