They were very lucky it was not declared illegal because as you say the club was not making any money to pay dividends and may have used bank borrowings to finance it

It is and should have been spotted by the auditors. These days, it would also have been recovered by the administrator when the club entered administration.

There was a debate on here some time ago about our off field operation and if I remember rightly we were told that the club were aware of the issues, that much had gone wrong under Rahic and that a lot of work was going on behind the scenes to put things right. Since then there is no evidence that I can see that anything has changed. The club is naive and amateurish in everything it does.

Indeed. He was charming, had a huge ego and had a vision for the club which he convinced others to pay for. His own share of the dividend was of course in addition to the £250k he was charging the club as his management fee .. and to run his car!

Many fans never saw through him but a High Court judge did. When he was convicted of tax fraud in a crime unconnected with the club, the judge described him as being thoroughly dishonest when ordering him to repay the £3.3mill tax fraud. He was later declared bankrupt and his wife ran off with most of his wealth which he'd transferred into her name to protect it from the tax man. Sweet justice!

Well we’ll see at the end of the season, but when Bowyer has a target man we weren’t doing bad and Wood was getting in plenty of crosses a stat which was mentioned on Twitter. It’d have been interesting if Parky had key players out which were instrumental to his style of play as Bowyer has had for 3 months, something you’re happy to easily over look.

What is the problem with our club? Why are we not an attractive investment proposition. I suppose it is hard for us to see because we are part of the club. On paper though, an ex PL side (albeit a while ago) with recent history in the Cups. Decent fanbase and a large ground. Considered of the the 'bigger' sides in the division and able to lure decent players in the context of the league we are in.

So why is nobody interested in buying the club?

Is it because we don't own the ground?

Is it because the area in which we are based is a dive?

Is it because the owner is demanding too much to sell it?

Is it because football club ownership is too expensive for businessmen these days and unless you have a genuine fan ready to soften the losses, it is hard to compete in the Championship (which is as far as we can go under our current low season ticket price model)?

It wasn't difficult to like the man Dennis the times I heard him speak were usually fans forums which he did more regular than any other chairman I can remember, Stafford was good at PR but Geoffrey could sell sand to Arabs and had most at the meeting in the palm of his hand.

I suspect that many fraudsters are equally likeable! That's how they get away with it.

I'm not convinced that taking the club to the brink of liquidation is what most City fans were dreaming of.

Others were certainly equally culpable imo and went ahead with what Richmond had organised without questioning what he was doing at the time. And it wasn't long ago that one of them was being regarded as the club's saviour!

Of course the directors were the only ones who knew the true position prior to administartion. But administartion was a fact; it was well documented and was the consequence of GR's undeliverable vision and his own incompetence and questionable stewardship.

In some ways it reflects our recent situation, Rupp left Rahic to run the club with very little involvement from himself, why should he after that great first season under McCall, Wembley etc.
As with the Rhodes family getting involve the season Jewell got us promoted they were major investors, why did they not question some of Richmonds later dealing at our football club.
As you say some are pro Richmond some anti but never a dull moments under Big Geoffrey.
We were on holiday in Spain and as we passed a cafe the TV was showing Richmond talking to a guy interviewing him and the back drop was a picture of Stan Collymore so popped in and had a beer so I could find out what was happening, lo and behold he'd only brought him to the club.

My memory isn't great but I don't think players like Wells, Reid, Davies, Jon Mc/Duke, Thompson played every game.

I think we are only really missing Donaldson from who would be classed a key player. We need key players but for the formation/tactics employed by Bowyer we don't have these key players, we have players that can play in a position.

Riley, Mellor, Reeves, Devitt, Pritchard, Ismail or Palmer come to mind when you think about players who have been injured - I don't see any of them being key players.

And there’s the million dollar question, something we can all debate but probably don’t know the answer to.

If it was area then why have dumps like Hull and Wolves has outside investment far above ours? Or if it’s being over priced I can’t see that tbh, as I’m not aware we’ve even had much interest in the last 15 years. Owning our own land, maybe but it can be bought with loans against the club surely so wouldn’t be to much of a risk to an ambitious owner.

Personally I haven’t a clue, but if I had to guess I’d say it’s pot luck.

But he always has a target man which is my point, it’s key to how a long ball team play everyone should know that. What happened under Parkinson when we tried a young McBurnie as the target man against Rotherham I think it was?
