What, so you're saying his end product did not improve under McCall? Just like McMahon and Marshall didn't improve their end product under him either?

If you’re going to make a statement like his end product improved then at least back it up with a statistic or 2.

That 1 win in 21 was strange in that the fans never turned, in fact they backed Parkinson as he had built up a lot of goodwill the season before. This feels different, there is no goodwill there despite the 5th place league position. To a large extent Bowyer is a victim of mitigating circumstances, the fallout from Rahic still haunts Valley Parade and injuries have denied him certain players at times.
That said he doesn't help himself, the football is almost unwatchable at times despite having good players at his disposal, it's the worst example of safety first football you will see. Even Parkys football looks decidedly positive after watching it. In essence he's made a rod for his own back, what should be a platform to kick the season on has seen us scraping for points in the lower half of the division, the last two games we've been markedly second best.
Saturday could be pivotal, only a win will be acceptable in the eyes of most fans. He gets it wrong and the atmosphere will be unfortunately toxic.

It ended badly but what a ride, this isn’t just aimed at you but would you rather it never happened? Because before we were mid table league 1(modern day division), with a stadium smaller than the likes of Notts County and Port Vale. Clubs like Carlisle and Northampton had been in the top flight more recently than us, what a ride I’d go through it again if I could just hopefully without the admin at the end.

I was replying to the stat you provided. 2 goals in 4 years under Parky, 2 goals in one season under Stuart. It was always accepted that Meredith's problem under Parky was his final ball, not that he didn't get forward enough. This is genuinely the first time I've heard this argument.

True about the 1 in 21, but by 15/16 season the fans had started to turn. Booes in games like Colchester and Bury and who can forget the famous Fordy relegation thread that season which had plenty of interest and wasn’t simply dismissed. He was most likely let off more likely due to the season before. However go back to the summer of 2012 after we’d just stayed up plenty called him Plonkinson and said he wasn’t the man to take us forward. You’ve said yourself we played our best this season when Donaldson played at the top of a 4-2-3-1. If Parkinson didn’t have a target man for the amount of time Bowyer bad can you say it wouldn’t have been as bad?

Bowyer should be working on bringing another in though if he’s going to continue with this style. Parky was rarely short of an extra target man.

You must be the only person who thinks Meredith got forward as much under Parky as McCall.

Parky had Reid who was an out and out winger in front of him and did get forward and support him very effectively

Yet the stats prove Meredith was far better under McCall, go figure...

I thought the 4-2-3-1 coincided with our best spell of the season, Donaldson has been a loss. That said, if you have a striker with the qualities of Vaughan then as a manager your job is to get the best out of him. I'm very dubious as to whether Bowyer can and this has been proved with the return of Doyle who's had next to nothing to work with. I actually want Bowyer to succeed, like any other manager that holds office at VP, but if it carries on without what I see as improvement then he can walk come the end of the season.

Some only see his last season in charge, he delivered everything he said he would up until that point. I guess we should have just plodded along the decades like Rochdale or someone similar.

He’s a manager that requires a target man imo, it’s not football I particularly like but if he’d had a target all season I think we’d have more goals and be in the top 3. I just don’t agree with the posters saying Parkys style was somehow different, it was the same when they both used a target man. I’m not defending Bowyer, but I think when all the players are fully fit we’ll go up. If not then he should walk if we don’t, but it’s not over yet we can’t just keep sacking managers. Parkinson was given a good 50 games before the 12/13 season, and plenty wanted him gone then let’s hope similar happens again.

Well, I never said that. I said Meredith overlapped his winger under Parky and his end product improved under McCall as it did with other players.

Your first comment was overlapping full backs you didn’t mention him at all I brought him up, but we’ll leave it there or we’ll be getting called Cougar esk

Dull and out of date but Parky's was bloody effective, achievable and so difficult to play against. It had a purpose, an end goal and it worked. The hoof was used to great use and up to a partnership that worked so well, the midfield was dominated by Jones, the wide men were used very effectively and our set pieces often won us the game at times. It wasn't pretty at times. Every player knew their job, they'd been lead/trained to it - back 4 were defenders and up for set pieces, midfield was solid and the 2 up top - little and large - forged a fantastic partnership - again they knew their jobs.

Night and day between the 2 managers.

That's very true but the Rhodes' also took their share. The surprising thing was at the time, the club wasn't even making a profit to justify making any dividend payment let alone one of £8mill.
