He's effectively turned every city fan against him and in a very toxic way. I just don't see how he can possibly play for the club again and nor should he.

 

Did Akpan have a needle and thread to carry out the repairs to the armband?

 

I've been through 10 pages on this thread and it is interesting the number of different posters posting. On most threads we go through a couple of pages of tooing and froing with a couple of posters but aside from @Frank Castle making light of the situation or playing the devil's advocate most posters are unhappy.

It's interesting he has released a statement. That tells me he feels he needs to defend his position. He's probably come up with the best excuse he can but Akpan picking it up and wearing it later tells me he hasn't thought through his statement or didn't have all the details of what happened after he threw the armband away in order to come up with a viable reason for what he did.

Ultimately, we all know he's trying to defend himself. He knows what he did was questionable and wrong or open to interpretation.

For me, let's drop him and let's play young Reece. Reece can't do any worse than the crap being shown and he's one of our own. He'll give 100% for sure. If we're going down it needs to be with a fight and with players playing with pride. Young Connor did well today by all accounts and has done well most of this season when he's played. It's time to back our own lads. Can Patrick do any worse than Miller? Give him a shot too.

I can't get to home games and won't make it next weekend but I'll happily pay halves for someone who's swaying on going to go and stand and serenade O'Connor with several rounds of 'you're not fit to wear the shirt'. Genuine offer.

Define 'abuse'.

If a player puts in a string of gutless performances then I don't have a problem with that person being called gutless.

I don't have a problem with O'Connor being criticised for throwing the armband away yesterday- I'm not buying his statement one bit. His attitude was questioned by Aberdeen fans and we're seeing why.

Our players throw in more towels than a Chinese laundromat. Criticism of their performance and lack of heart is fair game.

The Parkinson side had limitations, as did Stuart's. But they were backed by fans to the hilt because they had heart and professional pride.

We've gone beyond 'getting behind the lads'. Continued support of what we're seeing is enabling this farce to continue. Enough is enough. The players have been supported in greater number and backing than any other club would be in this league, in this position.

This club need a a complete reset, as does our mentality as a fan base. We're going nowhere but backwards.

Anger is very much justified. If those among the squad have a problem being called out, they can take their inflated salaries, jump off social media and worry about whether it's Dubai or Marbella for their summer holidays- though some look like they've had their in their uppermost thoughts for months.

 

Don't do twitter or instagram and don't have any mates who are in the know.

I'm 70 years old and have followed City for over 60 years.

I try and make it to as many away games as my pension will allow.

I was at the game yesterday and saw O'Connor throw the armband into the net.

I doubt it was damaged as he ripped it off his arm.

When you look at previous captains like McCall, Wetherall, Jones and Darby he should be ashamed of himself.

 

What have flares and anti-social behaviour got to do with fair criticism of players who're abjectly failing to perform or show the desire that all fans expect?

They've been well supported all season, and it's resulted in one of our most pathetic season's in living memory. Fans have a right to be angry and to vent that anger. I'm sick of this lot and their 'efforts'. They need telling straight.

It's actually quite obvious. I'm shocked why some people can't see it. We've gone from a club being in a play off place to a complete shambles. Over the summer the recruitment was dire and ended up with a complete rookie manager being appointed who hadn't even applied for the post. The transfer window had closed and all the money had been spent. We've been fighting fires ever since, one after the other. They continue to rage. Yet some folk think we should be doing better. We are where we are because this is a group of individual players. It's not a team. It never was a balanced team. Some of us saw it long before the season kicked off. Some of us saw it even before McCall was sacked.
Rahic talked nothing but complete and utter shte. A conman.

 

Why? The players aren’t.

We’re not going down because of an armband. We ARE going down because many of our players - our defenders in particular - are garbage, spineless and couldn’t give a monkeys about putting the effort in needed to save our season. And that’s abundantly clear. They deserve stick for their attitudes - they’ve had enough support and it hasn’t made a jot of difference. Sometimes, ‘good support’ is about a justified show of anger to hold those responsible to account and to make clear that we won’t settle for it. It was a key factor in getting shut of Edin and it needs to be a key factor in getting rid of some of these clowns.

 

I blame him for destroying the fundamental fabric of this club. It was built up on the character of the players, which that waste of space ‘didn’t know’ If Rahic had left the recruitment to professionals I would guarantee you we wouldn’t have this shambles on our hands, and I can’t believe you are letting him off the hook.

Whilst that is true, these are the same players that, in December, looked leagues apart from what they show now.

This squad should not be fighting relegation but because some can’t be arsed,and others just have no respect towards the club, this is exactly where we are

So someone gets taken into their managers office and told he isn't up to the job so has the responsibility removed from him. His replacement phones in sick and the manger asks the person to cover? If that was me I'd tell the manager to feck off too.

Whoever decided to give it to O'Connor when Caddis went off needs to have a think about it. It was never going to go down well.

 

What a crock of sh1t. I'd expect you to do the job or hand in your p45 and fhuck off!
