For me I would still bring in a manager like hurst on the condition that there happy with trueman and sellars being involved with the first team in some way. There clearly talented but maybe a bit early for them. For once why cant we have a full compliment of good staff

 

To answer first question, no.

I wouldn’t say they’ve done enough to warrant the job yet, but i’m of the opinion the options out there are nothing special and I don’t think we’re missing out on anyone outstanding if we give Trueman and Sellars more time to assess if they are up to it.

The justification for giving them another 270 minutes would be they’ve turned around a team in shocking decline - a shambolic collection of individuals who lacked organisation, fitness, clear direction, and had a habit of slipping behind.

When interviewed and asked about taking things back to basics they said they’ve actually given the players plenty of information - which has seemingly been well received. The new formation has suited us well even though we’ve no proper right sided midfielder. Is FCD a RB normally, too, or a CB?

I can understand why Sparks would want Hurst and planned for a quick appointment, but don’t have any negatives to say about the caretakers, who have pleasantly surprised. At worst they have boosted their profile and deserve a little contract improvement and a pat on the back telling them to keep up the good work - find us the next Staunton.

I think you are confusing a head coach and a DoF all those clubs have a DoF but not necessarily a head coach. Even though there isnt a lawful differance between the two by thumb a manager has a say in recruitment and a head coach has no say whatsoever.

 

Without clarke (and cooke) we have won 6% of our games.

 

He’s been best player on the pitch against the smaller teams several times. Southend and Stevenage spring to mind.

He has been poor other weeks and RM isn’t his best position - Grimsby wasn’t his best game. But his quality is still there.

Like many I have been surprised but I have really enjoyed the last 2 games and we have at times played some good football. The caretaker managers have done really well in their 3 games but is that really enough to change Sparks plan if indeed he had a plan?

If Novak’s brilliant goal had come back off the post and become a brilliant nearly goal would they still be the number one choice with 2 good performances, 1 win and 2 draws?

If that’s a yes then fine let’s appoint them. But if the margin in 3 games is so close we should stick to the original plan and appoint whoever has impressed with previous experience and achievements.

Billy Clarke would walk into any team in this league that play a formation that suits his style. In this 451 he's the glue that holds it together. Why fo you think Holloway was so pissed ar losing him ?

 

Can we stop knee Jerking. These are two quality youth coaches who have done a great short term job, but giving it to them full time would be like playing BRE upfront.

They need to be involved and groomed if they are to be involved in the future, exactly like Jewel and Kamara were. Mcfarland & Cherry both captained title winning teams under quality coaches before they took the plunge.

Dolan was assistant manager and ternant sat beside him with his fantastic coaching brain.

Appoint these two now and we lose the quality youth coaching they bring and ultimately end up with another Collins scenario. Its just a short term knee jerk reaction, and isn't fair on them ultimately because in the long term it will fail.

Sorry, where did Holloways team finish last season? This is a team that last season had James Hanson has there main forward. An injured James Hanson is better than Guthrie and he's shite now.

Football is about levels and if you think Billy Clarke is quality then I worry about you footballing knowledge. No current Bradford City player is quality hence why Sparks is going on about recruitment because hes right.
