He's made a good living from the game I'm not sure he'll give a monkeys, like him or loathe him he always had something to say and IMO he's more right than wrong, did a great job at Bolton.

 

I'm only joking mate, Sam's had a phenomenal career, I have a lot of respect for him.

 

Our ceiling is much higher than Morecambe, but the big question is whether we're geared up to deliver. There's no reason why Morecambe couldn't do what Fleetwood have done and consolidate, with a push towards the playoffs over a a couple of years. He'd need everything to go right here too. Expectations over results and playing style will be higher here, he's starting from scratch etc.

I'm not saying he won't come, because I think he will. I'm just saying, we're not the much bigger draw that some people seem to think. He'd be taking a big risk, and there are plusses over why he might choose to stay at Morecambe. By some margin, players and managers tend to go backwards rather than forward by coming here.

Fleetwood put the cash in, whereas Morecambe haven't.

 

We have no ceiling as such. A successful regime, money put in and the right manager could get us into the Championship and as Huddersfield showed (and us in 1999) that can take you anywhere. Climb the leagues and we can very easily average 20,000 gates.

Morecambe will always be a borough of Lancaster. They have a very fixed ceiling and that is essentially mid table league one, perhaps flirting with and in the shot term getting to the Championship for a season before doing a Wycombe. Their maximum gates would be no more than 8,000 on a very good day. In fact they would struggle to get that if they pulled Man Utd in the FA Cup.

It's all down to what Adams (if it is him) has been promised as backing and how that backing manifests itself. Success builds on success, but if you have a glass ceiling that success will always be limited. I'm not being arrogant, but I believe if faced with the option of keeping a tiny football club in league one v the opportunity to try and build an epoch at a club that has the potential, he would choose the latter.

He's 42 and has potentially another 20 years in the management game, to come here and fail will damage his CV in the short term, but not as much as staying where he is, getting relegated and being seen as a manager who had turned down a big challenge. Stay and he becomes another John Coleman. Leave and he can go on to better things like Paul Jewell did before (as some rumours say) his todger got stuck in his zipper when addressing his PA.

We can use different clubs and owners as what we think are reasonable comparisons but at the end of the day he will have told Ryan what he will put into the club going forward and if Ryan can get a sponsorship deal that doesn't use the cash from Stefan that's got to be good business ,yes as Ryan says they will be renewed over a period of time is that too much to ask, renewed seating at little or no cost to the club.
