The majority hated pp's style of football but let him off due to the cup final and play off from league 2.
A lot of people moan about how we don't give young coaches a chance in the game and keep giving positions to managers with history, who then fail.
Now we give a young coach a chance to establish himself and its the wrong decision? The club is stable financially with investment in its infrastructure.

As they say, football is a simple game made complicated by manager/coaches.
At our level full backs are full backs, wing back are wing backs, wingers are wingers etc etc.
The further you go up to the premiership players may be able to adapt but not at the level we are playing at.
If you wish to play in a certain way ensure you get the players who can play that system. Not square pegs in round holes.Rogered Tart, City loyal, The Original EB and 8 others like this. -

There you go Edin has learnt,
1:30pm
ER: "We can win first five games and I will say 'calm down'. We can lose first five and I will say 'calm down'
I'll guarantee you Edin if we lose the first 5 you'll be nowhere to be seen, just as you weren't at the Scunthorpe game because you couldn't face Scunthorpe's chairman.broadsword, Fordy117, Tony Wilkinson and 7 others like this. -

Don't anyone kid themselves ? At the core of this dog awful appointment is the FACT that Abbott is the "main man". But we all know he simply doesn't "wash with the fans" so Rahic has stuck the "Cone Bros" out front as a couple of "patsies".
This is a total shambles and I'm warning everyone now that the players will see through this. Collins might have a badge but I've met loads a these types "all gear no idea". He's a kids coach for God's sake; experienced players aren't going to take their lead from a 32 year old with next to no playing career. Compare him say to the vast experience domestically & internationally of Stuart ? ; not withstanding Stuarts "core connection to the club.
I don't care how many want to give this "model" a chance ? Delude yourselves we have unearthed the next "Neil Harris" ? So how's Collins going to out think experienced wily operators like Evans ? or Coleman ? No blooming chance. Can see the Three Stooges on our bench looking like a right set of numpties as the games go tits up and the howls of derision from the stands pour scorn on the Three of them ?
Tell you this I give "No Jacket Required" Collins his chance if he makes his first key decision next week ! . He hauls in Poleon and tells him to start looking for another club ! . If Collins so much as gives Poleon even a sniff of the first XI you'll know he really does have "all the gear and no bloody idea" Over to you Mr Collins (sorry I mean Abbott) talk about Against All Odds ? how the hell Rahic came up with this solution having procrastinated for an age God knows.
To be honest if I didn't have better things to think on it makes me bloody angry. Absolutely zero enthusiasm at all for the new season. Only real silver lining is that a bet for this being a relegation season is sure to deliver !Bruce Bannister, The Evidence, Manningham bantam and 7 others like this. -
1. Rahic wanted control of what goes on in training and match days. He couldn’t be certain he would get that with new appointments. He now has that.
2. Cheap, simple as, they will all have had a pay rise, so no big outlay for a coaching team.
3. He is convinced that we can do this with young players, once again cheap. He has this now, with appointing the U18 coach.
4. He now has control of all parts of the club!
What I will say to him, buy cheap pay twice. Yes you may get the odd bargain, but the general rule is you get what you pay for. This mission you are on could prove extremely expensive. Unfortunately our club will pay the price.Inspector, broadsword, River_City_Bantam and 7 others like this. -

I have nothing against the trio now employed as a management team, its how they have come to get these positions that baffles me. Rahic states in the T and A Collins was first considered at the weekend. Maybe he could explain why not one of the applicants interviewed was deemed the right person for the job? After six weeks of searching he suddenly has a brain wave and decides to employ staff already here. Surely they were interviewing applicants that had been vetted through their CVs to get to the interview stage. Something is amiss if every applicant isn’t seen as good enough. Lets face it, the position is a poisoned chalice, Parky saw it straight away and Stuart loved the club too much to take the job in the first place. We should have had ideal candidates queueing round the block to take the VP hot seat, instead everyone takes a rain check, or vacates the premises like all the off field staff have done.
Good luck Michael, Martin and Greg. You’re gonna need it.Goose, broadsword, thebantamhaslanded and 7 others like this. -
We were going for the best we could get in, yet Greg says Edin spoke and asked if I would be able to help and advise on the grass if the appointment needed that.
Why would Greg be required to help out, as many have said if it had been say Ferguson or Garner they would have brought their own number 2 in.
Sorry the more I listen to some of the interviews the more I think these guys were appointment to allow Edin more input into the footballing side of the club that no other coach would have given him..Inspector, punk bantam, bantamdave41 and 7 others like this. -

I am absolutely loving what MC has to say about how he wants the whole team to perform.
He has a clear and engaging approach. The players appear to be 100% into his philosophy.
Today was a huge test and he passed with flying colours.
Refreshing attitude.
A million miles from SG et al in the way he approaches the game.
And good positive tactical substitutions today as well.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...punk bantam, How, Ollylondonbantam and 7 others like this. -
Tell you what I loved today. At the end of the game Collins, Drury and Abbott all stood on the half way line applauding both players and fans. They didn’t march forward and take the limelight, they stood there and let the players take it.
As I drove home and heard the Radio Leeds interview with Collins I understood why. All about team, not individuals.
Like most of us, I like to see managers getting excited, Parky was always good at the end of the game. But this just has a different air to it.
Not saying it will be like this all season. But as far as setting a president to how he works, Collins & team actions and decisions today were very encouraging.
Hope he enjoyed the result as much as we did.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Botswana Bantam, Bantam75, Petrov and 7 others like this. -
Positive start, far from a complete performance but I liked the way we approached the game, I liked the way we continued to try and play after taking the lead, and I liked the intent of the substitutions.
It's just a shame Collins isn't in his late 40's or 50's and been sacked by 3 or 4 other clubs, then I'd be confident that we had a proper manager.Dennis, mrtrickio, Jason McEvan and 7 others like this. -
Let's all vent now and get annoyed and angry. The online reaction is definately not going to be pretty but once over the shock and dissapointment passes then just lets see how this plays out. The appointment is far from inspiring to us but it may turn out well. The best coaches have to start somewhere and Collins himself acknowledges he has to win us over. I know we'll all be behind the lads come August either way.
