And what a good job they've done. Shows if you give someone a job they can sometimes step up to the mark. Who says Collins isn't in that mould ? I think he's and exceptionally brave man for taking the job. No-one seems to be crediting him with that.

Good luck to the lad, if it works I'll be delighted. He's played a similar number of professional games, at a similar level, and with a similar amount of coaching experience to Paul Jewell.

 

Have took a bit of time to think about it and my attempted "balanced" response is 1. We have appointed an unknown -but as others have said, you have to start somewhere. The concern is that other promotions from within like Dolan had some coaching experiencing behind them. Having said that - you take a high profile player straight out of playing and they have no coaching/managerial experience either. 2. It feels a little to me like Greg was probably becoming more involved but doesn't want to take front seat and probably doesn't have post illness energy for running up and down on the training ground. His continuing presence should temper accusations that the heart is being ripped out of the club. 3. That a different approach is being pursued means yes shared vision is crucial and also not surprising that new owners will make enemies within the club. 4. The new recruits have presumably been coming in knowing to a certain extent what they are getting in terms of the team -so we haven't/aren't dependent on the right profile manager to get the players we want. 5. It is concerning that it has taken so long -and one does wonder why not bring in a German coach to implement a Gemran model but maybe Rahic has indicated a little bit more conservatism than previously assume. 6. If they are able to implement their revolution and create a strategy that isn't revolving around the manager then that is potentially good for the long term.

 

Give over the lot of you. The guy has 300 championship and league one games behind him so he's got something about him. No-one knows if he's a push over. Perhaps he's just done a fantastic job in selling himself.

 

Do point out where posters have said were finished, or provide a link, I've read a lot of despondent posts but as yet not seen anyone make that comment "the club is finished".

 

My less balanced, more emotional response is "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh"

i have been going to VP for more years than i care to remember ,
through bad very bad -- to sometimes fairly good ,
i have never felt so detatched from City ,
thats not down to the club the players or for that matter the new coach ,
its down to the idiots who are destroying the attachment between club and fans .
You seriously cant be happy at the goings on at VP can you ?.

 

Great post. Many on here would only be happy if we'd appointed an old coach with set ideas. Remember Lennie Lawrence ? Great appointment at the time, threw shed loads of money at him and the only way we got promoted that year was to sack him and bring in Kammy who had 3 months coaching experience.

 

And the deal was balanced on the fact that Chesterfield had to bring in Dennis's replacement before they'd allow him to leave, they thought they had got their man in Clarke-Harris on loan from Rotherham but unfortunately for them Coventry gazumped them and they pulled the plug. we should have made the offer we were prepared to pay if Chesterfield turned it down we move on.

There is plenty of individuals in the workplace who are good at selling themselves - talk the talk but then when it comes to actions/deeds are a failure. Hopefully from his actions/deeds the club benefits positively - it will also help with some decent additions to the squad if Mr Rahic wants to see the 3 amigos to be a success and take our club forward. It would interesting to know what targets and outcomes they have to meet/attain to be considered a success.

 

I made my offer to the individual. That offer stands for him/her. However there has been no response.

I am not unhappy. We didn't complain about McCalls appointment first time around when he had limited experience in managing the full thing. In fact we welcomed it. We complained about Jewel, Kamari and even further back we got out tidy whites in a knot of excitement about Roy McFarland who had no experience at all.

We have tried the experienced manager/coach (all have been named on here Taylor, Lawrence, Focherty, Robson.....) who have delivered NOTHING. I fir one am excited by the appointment and willing to give the guy my support.
