Ken Morrison was appointed to the board on 25/01/1974 (on the same day as Jack Tordoff, under the Chairmanship of Bob Martin). He was on the board longer than most people think, until his resignation on 29/10/1979.

 

Honestly I’m struggling to remember the sequence nowadays.

 

Didnt big Geoff take over city and Simpson went to Scarborough.

 

Hopefully some merch at Guiseley Morrison’s just to see the look on the Beeston fans faces !

 

They swapped clubs. Geoff gave Simpson cash and Scarborough fc for bcfc

Don't think City fans at the time would have allowed it, although there wasn't social media like there is today many would have shown their dislike in numbers I'm sure.

With regards the merger wasn't that Steve Parkin who is an avid Leeds United fan and part of the reason he wanted to buy Bradford City was to amalgamate us with the Bulls and make us a joint sporting club.

 

As per usual with every thread about the club posters have an opinion on everything without having evidence to back it up.
It is great that so many local company’s are coming forward to sponsor the club, buying into the vision Ryan has for the club.
If you want the club to move forward just get behind it!!

Notice it is called a partnership and not a sponsorship, Apart from free tickets etc wonder if they are putting hard cash in or is just publicity based?

 

I think the costs are minimal on both sides.
City is donating 5000 tickets over 2 seasons and Morrisons will give up a small amount of space in 5 stores to sell City merchandise, from which I expect they will take a cut.
All publicity, but none the worse for that. Bigger things may come of it.

 

It was around the 1974/75 era, Avenue were going out of existence and Bob Martin thought he could get the Avenue fans joining City fans supporting a new team called Bradford Metro as Bradford had become a metropolitan council. It was a few years later round about 1979/80 when he got his dodgy architect friend John Garside who wasn’t an actual architect to draw up plans to move City to Avenue. It was roundly criticised at the annual shareholder meeting and in the end public opinion from City fans and the cost binned the project.

 

Think Bob Martin quit his business and City and went to the USA

 

Just a question but are City donating the tickets or are Morrisons buying them?

 

I believe City are donating them but the press release is a bit vague.
