Let's hope whomever and however the tickers are allocated, that we gain new support via the initiative. At just 5% uptake, a potential new 250 customers...

    Good on both parties.

It’s either no cost to City ( The seat would be empty in any case or a small cost to Morrison’s .

A great exercise to get kids interested or the underprivileged involved imho.

Its a good partnership. I hazard a guess there will be little money in play more of deal where both parties use the influence of each other to their advantage. Like some of the improvements to the stadium where a build up of good relationships has seen work done to the cost effectiveness of both club and partner.

Those new seats in the main stand look great compared to the old faded ones and new dug outs in front, all power to Ryan & Davide and their backroom staff.

Think he ran some business or other near Orlando but hear he’s back now, possibly in Baildon I’m guessing he will be very late 70s or early 80s now. Time marches on.

    Thanks Grumpy.
I know that I'm going to get crucified but had Martin's plans come off we might be a different club today.
There's lots of posts on here that regularly make reference to how we haven't had the success our Beeston budies have because we were a two club City.
The merger plus a move to a diffetent venue could have been a whole new era for football in the city.
@Kevin1954@Kevin1954 Simpson took over from JT at the start of the 90's and basically kept the club afloat. I recall the club having to go cap in hand to the fans to raise the £30k to buy Colin Hoyle we were so hard up.
GR bought the club in 94 from Simpson who went the other way to Scarborough.

You can still get Bob Martin pet products, I'm guessing they are something to do with him as I seem to remember that was his line of work.

Are we the only club in history who have been owned by a pet shop owner, a travel agent and a man who makes disposable lighters.

Thanks Wolfy I just couldn’t recall the sequence of events. I’ve certainly given a few quid. Remember the meeting in the old stand of all places, two to three hundred? Remember it like it was yesterday, but I can’t remember what year it was. Grr!

Big Geoffrey was pretty clued up in the commercial sector but Sparks doesn't have the luxury of Richmonds open chequebook and as such has to think outside the box. There were a fair few on here that didn't really understand that first and foremost Bradford City is a business that will live and die on the income it brings in. There were things at the club that were quite frankly embarrassing, i know for a fact staff had no real targets to hit and things like the dug outs and the shabby conference areas showed those running the club didn't care. Professionalism is all about attention to detail and that mantra has to run through the whole club.

It certainly is, my retail and commercial role was similar before retirement. I mentored a few upcoming managers who coming from sectors nothing to do with their new one , soon transitioned and I admit they were quite impressive. All roughly Spark’s age.

If I were Sparks the first thing I would have done is start to set ambitious targets, say a commercial turnover of £1.2 million or something like that. I then challenge my commercial director not only to reach that target but to beat it. Offer incentives to staff based on performance. Same with the merchandise, it seems we're already way ahead in like for like sales of the new shirt and you then have created a knock on effect where because targets are being met, staff go that extra mile. Have to admit I'm impressed how Sparks gets it.

Could be his dad, but I guess its just a co-incidence, or Two Bob, played on their products by opening his pet shop.

Oh they will be on targets…trust me their salary would be dependent on such. It focuses the mind so to speak as you say.

Bob Martin was nothing to do with the Pet products. He was a small time businessman with big ideas and had Martins bargain centre in Shipley.

I'm sure in one of his interviews Sparks said the (then) incoming commercial manager had a target to hit.

As they worked together at Featherstone Rovers I'm sure they had many hours discussing the situation going forward and what both believed was achievable, they make a great pairing.
