Often walk that way, as we park by the Rose and Crown, you are quite right ,pavements used as car parking , as most of the roads are double yellows. Easy fix, make pavement parking illegal , as other cities have done, then enforce it.

The direction of travel would probably tell you if they’d been to the game or not. Most people driving to the match will know that Midland rd is closed past the midland road stand and therefore no exit to Hamm Strasse.
They’d also know it would be chaos trying to drive up behind the Kop straight after the game.
So my guess is they were just ignorant arseholes who didn’t know there was a game on and felt aggrieved at being delayed.
Closing the road is the only sensible option before some determined terrorist gets wind of the opportunity and drives an arctic at full speed through all the fans. Then we’d be all saying ‘told you so’ after the horse has bolted just like any other disaster

Well i was there yesterday with my daughter and grandaughter and hearing about this incident, i thought this could of been me. Just another example of lawless Bradford carried out in broad daylight which eventually will have an effect on attendances at matches. Sad to say after 58 seasons.

unfortunately the football club and its supporters, is not one of the council's vanity projects and i don't think anything will be done. Its alright though , we are city of culture. Lol Crime culture , drug culture. hand out culture.
Local elections next May , can we have a change of regime, no chance , turkeys do not vote for Christmas.

i walk on the road, so in that sense it could have been me but I get out of way of cars as they are on coming and don’t shout and swear at them, so probably reduces the chances.

There are two parts of the incident yesterday without which it would not have happened.

    1) the knobhead driver
    2) the fans on the road

now as a group, fans, we have control of one of the two and very little to no control of the other.

so surely we should manage that part and that would stop it happening again.

yes we can moan and complain about lack of action but it has been going on for years and nothing has been done so I can not see a sudden change in attitude from the club, WYP or council

Several years ago when I was on the SB, there were a couple of near misses on the Midland Rd involving supporters' cars and pedestrians. David Dowse looked into the possibility of a partial road closure after games with the Council and the Safety Advisory Group. There is a legal and road survey process to be followed, the tab for which would have to be picked up by the club. From memory it was somewhere between £5k and £10k. The club chose not to go ahead because of the likely costs. I and others found that a puzzling decision at the time.

If the recent incident is of sufficient importance to the club, it could of course look into it again. That shouldn't of course prevent the police taking action against the thugs who did this.

The costs in Manchester are not dissimilar and these are current. https://www.manchester.gov.uk/directory_record/287429/request_a_streetroad_closure_for_your_event
    • Large Commercial Events lasting for more than one day: £3,653 (additional road closures for the same event: £64 each)
If City were to pay a comparable fee, then it would £5,125 for 23 home games. Put that into comparison the cost of 205 paying on the day customers over a season, or 9 per match!

I will send an e-mail to the Supporters Board. Rather than refurbishing parts of the ground for the club, then Supporter safety may well be a decent use of funds?

As previously confirmed, cars are NOT on the pavements on either side of Midland Road. There’s plenty of room for fans to walk on them but sadly the urgency to get home for tea causes impatience and thus walking on the roads.

They do mount on the side where the recycling plant is. Not on the other side though, no.

It is no surprise that the person you are replying to is of that mindset.

It's easy. Organise a sit down across Midland road after the game till it clears.
If the useless powers that be will not act too protect the fans then the fans must protect themselves

I've ambled down Midland Road many a time after a game and seen aggressive drivers getting irate with people in the road blocking their progress. When you get down to the junction with Queens road you simply amble past them while they're left in the traffic light queue for another 2 or 3 cycles. There's just no need for it. It's a shame they're not intelligent enough to work it out for themselves.

Midland road after the game is very dangerous
Taxi drivers use it as a short cut instead of going up to Queens road lights
Our fans are no better leaving the game also
When Leeds are at Home all roads around the ground are closed till spectator's are clear of the area
The police stop traffic to let football cars out into main stream traffic NOT at Valley Parade if they wasa police officer directing traffic at Queen's Road lights and Ham strasse for 20 mins after the game there would be Very little problem
This has been the same for many years & will continue until someone is killed
None of BCFC the Police Or Bradford council are willing to get together and resolve it

Yesterday, cars were most certainly on the pavement on the Hamme Strasse side of Midland Road.

Ah ok, I don’t walk that way. I doubt there would have been many fans on that end of Midland Rd after the game yesterday.

that is basically what we do now walking down the road. If everyone sat down till it cleared when they got up it wouldn’t be clear so would have to sit agaib
