Anyone unfortunate enough to witness this? I don't go that way anymore but I'd hazard a guess I've seen dozens of incidents after games like this where the "oocupants' of a car have got out threatening violence toward fans walking away from the ground. I hope the victims aren't too seriously injured, it's.one of the reasons I despise the area of Valley Parade.

I walked down Midland Road after the match (towards Hamme Strasse). I assume it was the other side of the ground, as I didn't see anything.

I have see that someone has replied on twitter:

Cowards. But not unexpected living in Bradford. Only for the grace of God I've not been involved in a tear up over the years. I've sen them open the car doors before but not get out. Guess it was an easy target for them.

Likely already known to the Police. No one in their right mind would beat up an old man and his grandson in front of so many potential witnesses.

The lack of respect some young people have these days is appalling.

This has really pissed me off. This should have been sorted out years ago and has been mentioned here and elsewhere as a tragedy waiting to happen. Why on earth have we got to wait until someone is seriously injured or killed before the authorities shut the road for 15/20 minutes after a match. No point in saying it can't be done because it quite clearly.can.

Disgusting behaviour from individuals who think this kind of behaviour is acceptable.
Hope those who suffered injury recover quickly, sadly they'll probably never forget the incident unlike the occupants of the vehicle.

So they got out and did that, just cos someone asked them to slow down. Wow. Brainless. I often give the w@nker sign to careless drivers. Won’t be doing it next time in Bradford.

It can be done if the club put in for road closure, and pay the fees

The simple answer to this is to have Police stationed on MR after the game. You don't need to shut the road off. Just have a visible Police presence with recording capability.

Hope the family are OK and recover well.

This is horrible. Poor lad and his grandad.

they should just close the road completely until half an hour after FT on matchday.

Unrelated to this incident but something I think needs saying, too…..a lot of football fans have a chip on their shoulder and just walk out carelessly into the road after matches even though there are paths down Midland Road. It’s like they think they get a free pass to just walk out infront of cars because they have a football top on. Diving into the road when lights are still on green and god forbid trying to get onto Manningham Lane after FT if you’ve been picked up on a sidestreet. Fans just pour onto road and pretend cars aren’t there.

To reiterate, not saying that was the case here. But we really do have some arseholes for fans that risk causing accidents every week darting into the road.

Agree. Too many smackhead drivers in Bradford who get triggered far too easily and are a real danger to society.

It's a sad state of affairs but if you do give a vehicle, especially one with tinted windows, the w@nker sign you are more than likely to be subjected to some sort of abuse/attack.

I was on Manningham Lane after the last home game V Crawley and a Taxi shot a red light. I gestured to the red light and the elderly taxi driver stopped, dropped his passenger window and told me in no uncertain terms where to go.

    Keighley is no better.

That is all true. If the road is open people have to take responsibility for their own actions, again not blaming the two people involved today/ Until the council and the club come to an agreement about the road closure then people need to make sure they are safe, even if it takes longer.

If the road is closed then all those that park on Midland Road would have to wait to leave.

Closing midland road and the road behind the Kop is an absolute must for 30 mins after the final whistle or someone soon will get killed.

I do agree though that fans must take responsibility for their own safety by not walking down the middle of the road if the road is open.
You wouldn’t walk down the duel carriageway coming out of Odsal would you?

I’m afraid it has come to the point where sterilisation is our only hope. This country is utterly done for.

The police should be doing it and paying for it.
The danger is from the drivers not Bradford City of their fans.
That said - twice I saw bottles be thrown at Harrogate players today. No doubt we’ll have to pay fines because of our bellend fans

If the police get involved officially it is more likely they would force people either to walk an alternate route or force them onto the paths, probably start by making it all no parking for the full length of the road.

The danger is two fold. Yes the drivers should be more careful but also people shouldn't be walking down the middle of the road, especially dressed in dark clothing in the dark.
