As a brown person myself, i would confidently suggest yes.

Please don't try and make out brown people or muslims hate white people. Not true at all. A-holes act like A-holes to everyone..
As well not sure if you assumed the criminals in this incident were brown, they actually were white.

This has really pissed me off. This should have been sorted out years ago and has been mentioned here and elsewhere as a tragedy waiting to happen. Why on earth have we got to wait until someone is seriously injured or killed before the authorities shut the road for 15/20 minutes after a match. No point in saying it can't be done because it quite clearly.can.

By saying closing the road, do you also mean stopping parking on that stretch as they won't be able to move until all pedestrians have filtered away.

I've been walking down Midland Road for over half a century without endangering my life by simply walking down the path, its not difficult

I saw the aftermath of the incident on Saturday.
IMO there were 2 cars involved as both turned in the refuse sites gates to drive back towards VP.
One was a grey BMW and I can't remember the other car.
Both cars drivers were white and the BMW had a few passengers who I couldn't make out clearly enough.
I saw the lad who had been punched up against the wall being seen to by fellow City supporters but didn't see his grandad who was apparently attacked too.
Firstly assault is a criminal offence, its a horrible world we live in these days and especially on the roads I see daily a total lack of decency and a lot of anger, but getting out of your car to physically attack somebody should be dealt with appropriately.
As I park at the bottom of Bolton lane I have to walk along Midland Road after matches to get back to my car.
Fans just stroll down the centre of the road thinking its a pavement or a pedestrianised zone.
The cars are parked up on the sides blocking the paths which inevitably lead to crowds being herded into tight spaces behind the vehicles and it can take time to progress down to Queens Road.
The whole after match set up is a farce.
    Council, Police, fans, drivers.
Everyone is to blame for how it is.
We don't walk down the middle of Queens Road so why do many feel they can walk down the middle of Midland Road and not come across an angry motorist who might be trying to get somewhere through an open road that isn't restricted apart from Mr 'im ok to walk down here'.
Its not ok to walk in the middle of a road, its not ok to drive at a person, its not ok to assault somebody, its not ok to put lives at risk by not doing your jobs and closing roads, diverting traffic if you are a police officer.
Its a total breakdown of the morals and standards we should be living our lives.
But this suits a government and establishment who want nothing less than a divided society.

Probably out on a limb here but I don't see how the club should in any way be responsible for the safety of fans after they have exited the stadium, whatever happened to self responsibility ?

Why is it this country needs committee after committee, report after report to get stuff done? For 20 minutes after a game, stop traffic coming onto Midland Road from Queens Road and stop traffic coming down the back of the kop from Manningham Lane. They did at Odsal for years after rugby on Rooley Avenue allowing safe passage to the car parks etc.
Take a big part of the risk out of the risk assessment.

I’m afraid it has come to the point where sterilisation is our only hope. This country is utterly done for.

I understand completely what you say about fans taking responsibility for their own safety once they leave VP. But that also relies upon car drivers, incl some of our fans, being equally responsible and not driving on the local roads like imbeciles.

There still remains a duty of care for the club which extends beyond the ground itself. For example, during the winter, the club is expected (by the SAG maybe?) to keep the footpaths around VP clear of ice so that fans don't get injured from slipping. I recall at least one game a few seasons ago which had to be cancelled because the local footpaths couldn't be cleared of ice and were considered unsafe. I've no idea how far that duty of care extends but it certainly shouldn't be ignored.

    Edit - Role of SAG

Exactly this. The risk isn't folk walking on the road, thats a by product of having a 25,000 capacity stadium in an area that clearly didn't envisage the car use of the 21st century when it was first built. The risk is pretty much confined to the arsehole element of society who drive like idiots. So for that short period of time, for 23 times a year, make the 'dickheads' take another route. Because lets face it, who in their right mind wants to try and drive through thousands of people on a Saturday afternoon? All you would be doing is eliminating the source of the risk. I still can't believe in this day and age of health and safety scrutinization that it hasn't already been done. Shouldn't be up to folk like us to make decisions that people get paid to make.

There is only one answer. Shut Midland Rd at both ends from 1200-1800. (Saturdays as an example) Barrier off access roads from Manningham Lane onto Midland Rd. ( Cornwall Rd example which is used as a rat run to escape Queens Rd lights in both directions) This isn’t rocket science, with manned access for the disabled and emergency vehicles.
We are we making this so difficult when there is an easy simple solution?

Midland Rd could be and should be a valuable outside fan space pre kick off.

Likely already known to the Police. No one in their right mind would beat up an old man and his grandson in front of so many potential witnesses.

The lack of respect some young people have these days is appalling.

The driving in that area is appalling. Red traffic lights are optional to some of the residents, police are terrified of upsetting them.

Agree. Too many smackhead drivers in Bradford who get triggered far too easily and are a real danger to society.

It's a sad state of affairs but if you do give a vehicle, especially one with tinted windows, the w@nker sign you are more than likely to be subjected to some sort of abuse/attack.

I was on Manningham Lane after the last home game V Crawley and a Taxi shot a red light. I gestured to the red light and the elderly taxi driver stopped, dropped his passenger window and told me in no uncertain terms where to go.

    Keighley is no better.

Closing midland road and the road behind the Kop is an absolute must for 30 mins after the final whistle or someone soon will get killed.

I do agree though that fans must take responsibility for their own safety by not walking down the middle of the road if the road is open.
You wouldn’t walk down the duel carriageway coming out of Odsal would you?

Wonder if said local residents drive / react like that when their fellow community members are leaving mosques after Friday prayers?

    I would confidently suggest no.

The problem is not from fans driving away from VP, it’s the local residents and other drivers trying to drive from Queens Road onto Midland are against the flow of fans and traffic.
An easy option is to block access from Queens Road onto Midland Road 15mins before the end of the match and make Midland Road one way from VP towards Queens Road for 30mins after the final whistle.
The road behind the Kop should also be closed until all fans have dispersed. Today there were several cars driven by people who had clearly not been to the game trying to get through hoardes of fans straight after the game. Ridiculous

How come when the likes of Stockport and Grimsby come to town the police can close midland road without a thought and make fans walk miles around to get to where they want yet on a match day with lack of away fans the local reprobates can drive at ridiculous speeds up and down midland road at full time.
