Yet Smallwood's corner kicks and free kicks have been dire all season . So why's he still at the club?

 

Looks like he was dropped for the last game.

Harrogate are pants, too.

No loss, in reality, nothing against the lad.

 

We'll never know the full truth of what happened and both sides interest to look like the innocent party so the real truth is somewhere in the middle. The signing of Bola was the right idea in terms of wanting a quick, more athletic and attacking left back but we got the wrong player.

You do realise he's brought a hell of a lot of crap in as well ????? I mean fair enough getting rid of Foulds but to bring in Bola to replace him fook me explain that gem ????,

Very surprised at that. Its unusual to loan out a player who has been playing regularly.

Rather injury prone Ridalgh was shipped out. The Rotherham lb also appears to spend time on the treatment table too.

 

Last time there were a few theoretical posts there were a few posters getting their knickers in a twist so I didn't comment but in the last couple of matches there's been some frustrated reactions from Hughes and Hodges to Foulds crossing. I don't think they've been happy with it.

In his defence I'd say they could do a better job by telling Chapman/Gilliead/Eisa/Smallwood etc to get their arses into the box so that Foulds and Halliday had folk to cross to.

 

Didn't Hughes give him the new contract in June?

 

If the worst comes to the worst and Bola gets injured, I believe that Crichlow can play left back and the new Irish lad Kelly is a left sided central defender?

 

Maybe he wants someone in who can actually cross a ball ........... we can only tell over the next few weeks

 

Only Chapman and Halliday have more assists - it would suggest more of the offensive players need to step up.

 

For those bemoaning a lack of midfield replacements (and I'm one), Hughes hasn't said he's finished in the transfer window, so let's hold our horses until we know that he's done. He's evaluated the squad on the last 11 months and obviously recognises who will or who won't make the step up. As unfair as it is on Foulds, we have to be ruthless if we want to succeed. Let's be honest, something had to change.

 

That's nice. Let's just let the forward players sail through the season with a free pass... No need for them to create chances as long as they look pretty playing with the ball...

 

It is a good point, but, take Critchlow out of the middle and we look poor. Platt is massively better alongside him.

 

Ah the world of stats. Reminds me of Oliver's goal against Salford where Gilliead hits the post and bar from a great cross from Halliday but Oliver gets the 'goal' from a tap in. Stats can mean what anyone wants them to mean to suit their narrative

 

Possibly the case with Young but if you listen to what Hughes said today, it was Foulds that wanted the move away, not Hughes. He said Foulds had made a bit of a presumption that he wasn't going to be featuring as much and he was a bit surprised that he wanted away rather than wanting to stay and fight for his place.

Maybe the reason Foulds looked so unhappy to be at Harrogate wasn't because he was devastated he'd been sent there. Maybe it was because it was just starting to dawn on him what he's done.
