Were his crosses better than Smallwoods I should say so
Yet he not only plays but carries the armband too
MH has his favourites and if your face doesn't fit it's goodbye regardless

Madness. Foulds is very average but he's better and more dependable than Ridehalgh. Plus we have no idea of Bola is even any good.

Very surprised by this. Seems a bad move for bringing in a 24 yo who has started only 12 games in his career. Foulds was steady away. We have far bigger problems than at LB - particularly in CM

put money on nothing changes in there .......... we can go on about the channels etc but the real weak link is that midfield but sadly one man cannot see that

Seems very odd getting rid of a steady LB (who I rate better than Ridehalgh) when it is the central midfield that is the glaring problem with our current squad

and folk moaning about his crosses?? I wonder how many successful set pieces and crosses captain fantastic has had(!)

Shocked by this one considering he’s a starter.

Bang on. Hope to see Hendrie, East and Gilliead moved on too. We need better quality, blend and balance. Sutton can cover at RB although Hughes might bring in another if Hendrie moves. East is again, steady. Loan him out. Gilliead goes in circles and backwards. Upgrade needed on both for me

They are in for a shock? Losing Hedley back to HUDDERSFIELD and getting Foulds in return. Chalk and cheese?

A full back with more assists than attacking players and folk think that area of the pitch is an issue :)

    The one big weak link?

Have you seen our midfield? Not to mention our non-scoring, non-assisting attacking players?

Is it? This reminds me of that pointless stat for Connor Wood our first season back in L2, when he crossed the ball the most of an EFL player by January and everyone assumed he was brilliant but the stat left out the accuracy percentage and the fact he only had 1 assist to that point. For a more in depth dive into his stats.....

Looking over the Opta stats for L2, Foulds was tied with Currie from Wimbledon for most tackles on average per game with an ave of 3.3 tackles per game. He was 17th in the interceptions p/g list for defenders, 6th best full back. He was 14th in blocks per game at FB.
Going forward, his 70 crosses have a 38% success rate of hitting another City player with 2 assists. He's 20th in the full back list for key passes per game with an ave of 0.9. Just as a LB, he was the 11th most adventures with an ave of 0.7 dribbles a game. For pass completion, he was 40th of L2 full backs with 64.1%. Finally is 2 assists has him ranked 23rd of L2 FBs.

So in his defensive play, his stats are up there in terms of tackling and interceptions. It's the other end of the pitch that Hughes wants an improvement in, especially moving to a diamond when the main width is going to come from RB & LB.

and our right back nowhere to be seen leaving the strikers with free headers!
The Connor Wood / Foulds stats remind me of our discussion a few months back. The successful crosses stats based on the cross hitting a City player. Yet if a player gets to the touchline and pulls a cross back across the 6 yds box, but no City striker has anticipated, that's not deemed a successful cross. Damn stats!

Foulds has been a model since he's been here, seems proud to play for his home town team. The manager brings in a player he sees as better, Foulds deducts, rightly in my opinion, that the manager sees him as not good enough for the role he needs and decides he's better.getting a chance of game time elsewhere. I think Hughes comments about him fighting for his place were his own thoughts, but a little unfair based on the players efforts at the club. If it had been me I'd have made the call to ring my agent, I know of other players who should have done exactly this in the past but didn't have the balls to do it.

By the same token, Does Adam Clayton lack balls then, having fallen out of favour at Doncaster?

    answer: nope.

    it’s just football, folks.

I agree. I think, given how open we have looked since we brought in the diamond, MH is desperate to bring back the 4-2-3-1 shape.

To help us create more though he needs some pace and attacking endeavour in the full back slots and he probably (rightly) saw the left as our weakest side

I'm with you. Full back is now one of the most effective roles in the modern game if you're lucky enough to have one that can contribute at both ends of the pitch.

Certainly at teams higher up in divisions that look to dominate, it should actually be expected.

Interesting he seems happy with the other full back who can get forward but is slow to get back and defend and has been the cause of goals conceded down that side and regarly skinned by a quick player down that side

I'll be honest.I hate replacing our own players with loan players unless the loan player is proven quality and an obvious upgrade. I don't think its the case here. Bola might come good or he might be gash...it's a risk
