they did that. When the van went wrong side of the 606 the police didn’t follow.

Only one set of people to blame for the crash and that is them in the van

Sadly having found who the driver of the van was it doesn't surprise me that he ended up in a life of crime at 15.

    I don't buy that.

At 15, he knows the difference between right and wrong. He's scum, the lowest of the low. It's all done for the fun of it, it's not like he's had to resort to crime to survive.

I only hope the little sh1t is that badly injured he can't put anyone's life at risk ever again.

And this disgusting comment from a 'green' councillor...

And Bradford councillor Celia Hickson, (Greens, Tong), who represents the Holme Wood area, bemoaned the lack of leisure opportunities for young people in the area saying they had been "decimated" by the Conservative government.

Like as if these thugs would be playing ping pong instead of stealing motors...!!

Aye, let's firstly look at any blame we can pin on the police for attempting to prevent people breaking the law.

I honestly don't know why anyone would want to do that job these days. It must be nigh on impossible at times.

The parents are far from blameless in this. Which kind of parents don't give too hoots about where their 15 year old son is on a weekday night at 10.45pm.

Karma would mean the 3 in the van would be the ones who are dead, but no it's a hard working chef and taxi driver.

Stealing the van is probably like stealing someones livelyhood too. Whoevers van it was it is likely they are a man/woman of trade and their business is an after thought to an adrenaline rush. Scumbags.

Which bit don't you buy? I have first hand knowledge of the family and when you have it as part of your life from a young age it's very hard to get away from my it. I'm not condoning it if that's what you are alluding to, nothing will ever compensate the families of the two men killed in the taxi. The scum involved for me wouldn't see freedom ever again but unfortunately our justice system doesn't work like that.

Tin hat on time Tone but there is a correlation between cutting youth services to the bone and having a policy of trying to reduce crime in teenage years. It's not the full answer, but cutting public services has had a detrimental effect on all parts of society. As I've explained in a previous post a lot of these 'feral youth' have been dragged up by the seat of their pants and have no leadership in their lives. This is prevalent to the crash the other night. Lack of family structure is a big problem in society as is a nanny state that allows these kids to walk around undisciplined.

No blame game just asking if the police pursued them when they crossed over into the wrong lane.

That's a fair point but the world has changed. The tight knit family units have been replaced by a world where parenting is seen as a life style choice rather than a priority and as such a lot of kids end up on the neglected scrap heap. It's.a problem that governments seem reluctant to deal with but to have any hope of making a change in the future we need a structure in place to cope with those kids left without a future.

Parental Responsibility is a legal concept (and a moral one).
Parents have a duty to develop an understanding of right and wrong, to control their children and provide a childhood which nurtures their kids so that they can grow up to behave in a respectful and appropriate manner.
The kid is the headline, but the parent(s) should shoulder a hell of a lot of responsibility.

Just confirmed what I thought that the parents are a set of @?#& as well. Saw one FB eulogy for the lad that died, who was in the van, bragging that he came over their house stoned all the time and laughing like it was a good thing.

Sadly our council estates are rammed with low life like this.

I hope the driver of the van is paralysed and has to spend the rest of his life pissing himself in his wheelchair.

True. There is no guarantee to anything in life but from my own perspective my father was my role model in life and he showed me what it was to respect the lives of others. Never committed an offence in his life bar a parking ticket,.ironically on the fateful day of May 11th 1985. I've never been arrested for anything and I'm very sure my son wont either. A good role model in life goes a very long way.
