The only issue is it's not really a loyalty point system is it. It is a if you can afford it you get extra points system, otherwise you wouldn't get points for buying the 1903 thing last season.

Ah that is why my points are less! The OH points are 490 which is weird we always go together. I bought a ticket for a friend Is the only difference. He had been going to watch City since 1957 is that not loyal enough?

It is for me, but then I don't really agree with all the priority card/loyalty points thing anyway. I believe if you want to go watch city then you should have as much chance as anybody, no fan is more important than any other in my eyes.

I'm sure that loyalty got you tickets for various matches over the time, maybe Blackpool, maybe Wembley, maybe Villa Park etc.

Factoring in length of support just makes it a closed shop that disadvantages the younger end

As I have said there is no genuine fair way of doing this. I wasn’t advocating that those that had supported longest receive preferential away ticket allocation.

No we didn’t for Blackpool as we didn’t have a season ticket at that point. We were away for the Villa and Chelsea match. Wembley is not an issue as there are always plenty of seats.

And giving excessive weight to current away attendance makes it a closed shop that massively advantages the younger end, who have the time, money, energy and absence of other commitments to go swanning around the country every other weekend.
It ought to be possible to concoct a system which balances consistent long support (ie 'loyalty') with frequent recent away support.

I think the only fair way is to put forward tributes from each block of the ground and let them fight out a glorious battle in the middle of the pitch at half time. If you win you get a golden away priority ticket to be redeemed for you and your chosen uber fans at glorious venues like Barrow and Sutton.

ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the inaugural ticketing games.

Maybe they could give some points for doing free things then like watching training or writing nice posts to players on Twitter.
Maybe you don’t quite understand these loyalty schemes.

Ah sarcasm! I do understand the loyalty scheme, and I have said there are different ways of determining loyalty. I won’t have enough that is for sure so I will listen on the radio or iFollow.

As the 'prize' is away games then it should be based on away games in my opinion. Season ticket purchase should only come into after away points. Home attendance should give you benefit for home games eg cup matches etc

I disagree. A 70 year old with forty years of season ticket purchases may have neither the money nor the health to travel round the country every other week, but may wish to go to (eg) the Harrogate away game, which is accessible. I don't see why that supporter should have no chance of a ticket, but a sixteen year old who went to regular away games for the first time last season gets first dibs.
I think they should, for example, award ten loyalty points for each previous year of season ticket purchase, which would give long-standing supporters a chance of getting scarce tickets when they want them.

Fair enough, give them 10 points this season for every season and that would put them above anyone that went to every away game last year. Sounds like a cracking priority scheme, may as well just offer them to OAPs first and work your way down by age

The fair way to distribute limited ticket supplies would be to have a reverse auction with a minimum price set at the normal gate price. The lowest price in the auction to sell the 700 or 1000 for away games/20k for big home cup ties/Wembley's 32k allocation/whatever would then become the price everybody pays (but perhaps with separate auctions for different grades of seating). Nobody else could then complain when they had bid less than all those who succeeded. This would be a sensible way to deal with excess demand, eliminate most touting, and it would actually make more money for the football clubs - but we live in a football world run by old codgers in ivory towers with next to no clue about finance or empathy with fans. Reverse auctions have been going on for decades yet organisers still put fixed prices on most sports, music and social events that cause all sorts of problems in ticket distribution while a solution that is fairer and actually generates more money for them goes ignored.

Do you think that those that want a new BMW for £10k should get one? Some City fans would go to more away games if they could afford it but they pick and choose. Some poor fans get priced out because they can't afford the overall cost - should we offer them free travel and tickets at somebody else's or the club's expense? Prices ration supply and demand all the time. Anybody desperate enough to go will find some way to afford it. Ok, if that's too capitalist and profitable for football clubs for you, reverse auction most and reserve a portion for those that are poor and want to queue.

OK, five then. Whatever makes it more balanced, so it doesn't exclude all the long term supporters who can't possibly get to 20 away games per season.

Perfect example of the club can’t win.
It’s not going to be perfect for everyone, just accept whichever approach they take.

England away travel club have the perfect solution to this .
70 % for top point scorers
30% random ballot for the rest of the people who applied
It then benefits top point scorers but also gives others chance to build there points .
Too much hassle for city thou for the amount of games it will be needed .
