So I was correct with my above comment with regards yourself @Norman Corner, you post on here purely to get a bite, that is so sad. Seriously.

 

That's a very naive statement regarding our recruitment this season.
Chris Withe has explained it in a nutshell for you below.

 

Bury did that and got relegated.

 

We were recruiting players well before a headcoach was in place, having no idea if the players we were signing would be suitable for our pending head coaches preffered system. Additionally, playing 4 different formations in the opening 3 games, as well as playing players out of position doesn't suggest we were bringing in players with a pre determined plan in place. We are quite clearly still experimenting and are looking to find something that works.

You do not suddenly sign a team though. That has never happened ever and will never happen. You sign individuals which then create a team through training and success etc.

It’s all individuals at the start. Regardless of whether you sign them with a plan in mind or not. The original statement was false. No club has ever signed a team.

 

It’s the type of formation which can be flexible though and doesn’t have to be set for 90 minutes, every game does it?

Playing players out of their natural positions is a pure indication that players were signed with no system in mind and that the "three stooges" now trying (struggling) to find the system that will fit the players.

 

All formations are flexible and It still doesn't explain why we were signing players before a headcoach was in place if we were recruiting to fit a particular formation. At that point, we had no idea who our headcoach was going to be, what style of play he wanted to adopt and what formation he wanted to use. Compiling a list of targets before all this was known doesn't fit in with what you are saying.

On a slightly separate note, if Collins can find a system which gets the best out of the players and helps us get results then none of this will matter. Let's hope it's sooner rather than later otherwise the doors for criticism will be wide open.
