second highest poster doesn’t give anyone any more authority on this board than anyone else, neither does having more likes than anyone else - especially when it’s just the same people liking the same peoples posts. popularity means shit all to me.

Relax I am sure it will be a strong Liverpool side who play for Stephen even if a few are missing. If it takes place it will be well worth the journey over

You may have a point about Liverpool not being able to bring their 1st team. Obviously City fans and young football fans would love to see the current stars of the Premier League and Europe.

But, I’m sure the game will take place. Prior to it being listed on here, there were rumours from a number of different sources that the game was being planned and which weekend it would be arranged. At that time, quite a few dates were still available, so I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the claim, especially as it has come from some that have been correct in the past.

Finally, whilst some fans will go because it’s Bradford City at home in a friendly, others will go because it is in support of Stephen Darby, I don’t think it will be a sell-out if u23s arrive. You do see the attendances for the Football League Trophy games?

yeh, i see those attendances - i went to two of those matches last season. my point simply is that people are being naive if they expect a full-strength liverpool XI and don’t complain when it isn’t.. the information as to why it won’t be is clear.

 

Who’s expecting Liverpool to come with a full strength side? Not seen anyone claim this.

suggesting that they think it will be the side that took the field tonight. if they believed it to be the u23s or a liverpool select XI, ‘playing the champions league winners’ wouldn’t be mentioned. why would we sell out for a team of u23s and reserves?

 

Really chuffed that Liverpool got such a good winning run out tonight as a dress rehearsal for their friendly game against the mighty Bantams.

You do know that it’s the club that are Champions League winners. Try telling those in the squad that they aren’t winners. So, whatever squad comes, we will still be playing the Champions League winners...!

Also, look up the word ‘potentially’ as this is not the same as ‘expecting’...! Nobody has said anything that isn’t true. If Liverpool did bring a squad consisting of first team players, we WOULD sell out. The likelihood is small, but it doesn’t change the original point made

 

You’ve read too much into it. Even if we play a team mainly consisting of u23s we are still playing the champions league winners. And now officially with that title i could see Valley Parade hosting a huge crowd for the friendly no matter what squad they play. I think you’ll be surprised with the squad they turn up with.

 

I will be going, firstly to give my support to a fantastic player Stephen Derby, and to see a team I have loved for many a long year, not like City of course. It will be great whoever they bring, and I am sure the majority will feel the same way.

 

Has the Liverpool game been announced or have I missed something?
