Some folk need to get a grip on reality here.
It was a pre-season friendly.
Surely the ONLY result that matters is the amount of money raised.

If we extended it to two, there is a risk of it oversubscribing. We're near 14k now with ticket sales and if each bought two, with City fans buying one for their mates or Liverpool friends, it could leave us with a big issue on our hands.
It's not worth the risk of a PR disaster as per previous years.
The TL Dallas stand is being held back for now. We'll monitor demand from City fans and Liverpool and make a decision on whether to open that up down the line.
All receipts are going to the Darby/Rimmer Charity, so the aim of the club is to maximum the gate and income for a deserving legend.
On that point, Stephen took time out last night to attend as a special guest at the Bradford City FC Disability awards night. It was a surprise appearance and everyone was delighted by his kind gesture. That's the guy that we're honouring. A true Legend.
I spoke to him and he was overwhelmed with the support and the generosity of Bradford and Liverpool for putting on such a high profile game. He said Steph and their extended families will be coming.
His next stop was flying out to France to watch her in the world cup, but he made sure he kept his promise to Disability FC and gave so many people a night that they'll never forget.

God almighty. Why can’t people just go to the match and watch it, support Stephen Darby and go home.
Oh he won’t be playing. He won’t play. 67.7% are under 23’s. He might not play as he’s leaving.
So what? Go enjoy the game, give Darby the match he deserves. Stop worrying about everyone and everything else.CRASS, Bantam Boy, Onside and 18 others like this. -
I see the hostility to Liverpool fans and Bradford City fans who may also support a PL clubs carries on unabated. I won’t repeat what has been said many times. This match should be played as a true friendly both on and off the pitch.
I feel saddened that some have tried to disrupt the good feelings about this match, with their speculation about others fans motives, speculation about who will play in the Liverpool team as if that matters.
I have supported Liverpool since the sixties, but I have never been to their ground unless City has been playing, in fact I have never been to any football match unless City were playing. Will I be clapping Liverpool goals, no I will not, will I be clapping City goals you bet. Will I enjoy the skill demonstrated by Liverpool of course I will. However, what really matters on Sunday is that Stephen will hopefully know that he will not walk this very difficult road without our support and thoughts. Obviously it will be his family and close friends who will be by his side, but thousands of football fans will be praying for him and sending our positive thoughts to him.Meltham Massive, CRASS, City loyal and 18 others like this. -
What is all this bitching about who is sitting where, who is going to play for Liverpool?
The sole purpose of this match is to raise funds for MND research. If you have had a relative suffer and die with this atrocious disease you would just be so proud of both clubs and their fans contributing to this extremely worthwhile cause.

Just one embarrassing thing today about the match and that is the posts moaning on here.
It was a charity match, if it wasn’t for the charity element it would t be happening.
If you are so upset by something happening at a charity match you need to have a serious look at your outlook on life and maybe give other charity events a miss.Morley Bantam, RonnieBrown, Jason McEvan and 14 others like this. -

This is getting silly, the point is the match will be raising money for a young man, recently married, who we all hold in the highest regard, I don’t care if we play the Liverpool U15’s i’ll Be there to support him. No doubt cry like a middle aged baby when he walks onto the pitch!!
I’ve already agreed with a couple of bin dippers (scousers) that if this happens we will take a box, sponsor, do something to help the fund. Bring it on, one of the all time city legendsInspector, Skyebantam, JonButterfield and 13 others like this. -
I can't wait.
Day out with the family, full stadium against the European champions and all for a good cause. How can you not be interested?
I've got a couple of Scouse family in the bantams bar with me should be a good day out.
First time my 8 year old has seen a sell out crowd he's well excited.
Couldn't care less who is in the Liverpool team I'm just gonna enjoy the day out .
Well done city, Liverpool and all the fans who ever you support for supporting a very worthy cause!!!!How, punk bantam, Steve1970 and 13 others like this. -

Some so called fans of this club need to look at themselves and consider how lucky they are.
There's a young man who has been diagnosed with a horrible debilitating disease.
His fomer employers have come together to raise money for him and others who face this life changing condition.
And whats the reaction of some saddoes on here...to moan that some LFC fans may be in part of the ground they technically they shouldn't be.
I just hope those moaning don't have to sit in some consultants office in a hospital listening to the life sentence Stephen was handedStop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
Why does everything need to be questioned I and I would think the vast majority of fans going to the game are going for one reason and one reason only to show our support for a fellow human being who has been struck down with a terrible disease, a lad who brought us City fans so much pleasure along with the other history makers, and to support a great cause.
Sorry to go on mate but I don't understand the negatively it will be a good afternoon.CRASS, BoingBoing, RonnieBrown and 12 others like this. -

The occassion is to support a very worthy cause and bring two football clubs together to support Stephen his friend and the charity they have launched. It's about unity, solidarity and is not about rivalry. For that very reason actually having fans intermingling for an ocassion like this - and wearing their clubs colours - is very appropriate and shows there is more to life than football. One of the best comments in this thread was from someone saying they didn’t want to attend because they didn’t want to see a red shirt in the home end. Really? WTAF...!
Perhaps if the folk moaning actually bought a ticket instead of thinking what if, we may have sold out our allocation with ‘home’ fans, leaving little or no room for ‘reds’.
Can’t get my head around the fact some are moaning that the whole concept of raising money is going to be a success....!Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...JimmyBantam, WilsdenBantam, BradfordBanter and 11 others like this. -

I don’t get excited about seeing premier league players in the flesh like I did when I was a kid seeing the likes of Beckham, Henry and Shearer turn up.
I couldn’t care less if Liverpool bring their first 11 or their youth team. I took a friend years ago who had never been to City, he wasn't really arsed for it but he got to the game and enjoyed the atmosphere of a live football game. He's been a season ticket holder since but people with the attitude like yours who turn their nose up at potential customers because they haven't attended every game for the past 6 years will put them off.Bigrod, Meltham Massive, BoingBoing and 10 others like this.
