NKP was caught out and players sailed past him last season as was shown on Saturday. I believe Killa is more of a leader, had more assists and goals too last season. NKP is going to have to improve his game/form if he is going to have a positive contribution this season.

 

At our level a defenders primary role is to defend. Mark their man , go with the runners, get their their tackles in or body in the way of a shot or header and ultimately stop the other side from scoring. If we can create a side good enough to allow a short pass to a playmaker all well and good but we are mile off from being in that position.

 

once mcgowan is back to full fitness, NKP won't be in the side - wouldn't be surprised if that happened this weekend.

 

Another problem we've seen already is Mellor looks far more comfortable at right back than did in the back three. Played his football for Blackpool at right back as well. I'm not against a back three but you have to have a pair of very good wing backs for it to work impressively. Mellor could possibly make a better wing back than centre back but not sure about the left side. It looked lost against Barnsley.

 

Agree he just looked average against Barnsley at the best . It worries me playing guys out of position is this modern day football. Back in the day clubs probably had the odd versatile player don’t think we have.
