Had he been on the bench for the Macc Lads game I'd have been happier with the explanation given, but given he wasn't I'm not sure. My money is on him leaving before 31st August.

Maybe just the new manager doesn’t rate him in the way he wants his Center halves to play?

He may not prefer NKP, but perhaps he's being told to play him.

Something not right all round at the club at the moment. Too much shady cloak and daggers shit.

Much more like the truth Tallinn. Don’t get me wrong Killa is no world beater but he should be in a back 3 if that’s the system we want to play. That’s another story though as I don’t think he even knows that at the minute.

playing a back three means that by nature the two widest centre-backs have to be able to almost play as full-backs and progress high up the pitch close to the half-way line when in possession, allowing for one of the central midfielders to drop deep to receive the ball and start attacks, and when out of possession be quick enough when play breaks down to get back inside and cover across to and allow the wing-backs to drop in and the sitting midfielder to press forward to engage the opposition when they break.

if killgallon at 35 is showing signs that he won't be able to do this for 90mins every week, and that he's not be quick enough to get back in so the CM can press then we'll invite pressure and drop deeper and deeper onto the edge of our box. if he can't do this then he won't be in the squad. as it looks like o'connor, mcgowan and mellor are going to be first choice then we have to stick with these three to improve their understanding of how each other plays. should he be on the bench? yes probably - for when we need to see a game out and add some experience and game management know-how, but at this moment in time if we are wanting to develop a style of play then we have to go with those that will be playing more regularly.

collins has made no secret that he has studied the way sheff utd progressed out of the league, and three at the back with centre-backs who are comfortable doing the above was their strategy and one they still use now. killgallon was caught on the ball quite a few times last season, taking 4 or 5 touches to release the ball and if we want to be successful we need to start moving the ball quicker.

Chicksen is not a centre back.

Aww Snap, Chicksen was not meant to be a centre back until Collins got the job as head coach.

One big problem with brisbanebantams theory of mellor/mcgowan and oconnor as the back 3- who plays on the left?

All three have played centre back and all three right back, so Collins is going to shift over a right footer there.

We have been here before with playing NKP and Killa together last season because they didnt bring in a decent right footer with loanee Thompson not up to it.

both mellor and o'connor have played left of a three previously in their careers and all 3 are more adequate of a footballer with the ball at their feet than NKP. they're not there to spray 40-50 yard passes with their weaker foot, when playing wide of a 3 the main role of the CB in possession is to feed the sitting midfielder or wing-back.

plenty of defensive systems with either 2 or 3 at the back play with all right sided or left sided players, take mcardle and davies - both right footed yet lauded as our best CB pairing in years. the problem is when one's weaker foot is shocking and they can only defend down one side; see NKP vs barnsley.

Stuart made an issue of a left and right footer, it was never a problem with McCardle and Davies who were both right footed.

I like the fact that there are no more leaks from inside VP.

It shows the club is being run as a proper business and has someone at the helm who won't take any shit.

I think it can be a problem if you want to play out from the back. We never did under parky so was never an issue.

I would be more tempted to play Killa as the central defender with more mobility either side, plus I’d play Mellor as the right wingback. NKP’s positional sense against Barnsley was a joke, he didn’t even realise he was to cover when Chicksen was higher up the pitch. 2 or 3 times he hesitated to go out wide when that is clearly his job as the left sided player of the 3. He can’t defend, he can’t pass and has gone woefully downhill rapidly at City. I prefer 4-4-2 but we would struggle with where to fit Payne and would also need to add a target man. I don’t agree with swapping and changing the system 3 times a game at this level, the players are not good enough to take that on board. We can’t compare to Sheff Utd’s team or squad that got promotion, you need the players to play that system who are good enough to play in the league above.....afraid we don’t have them.

McCardle did OK playing it out from the back, under Stuart.

We need more than cover. We need someone who’s actually decent.

Don’t think it’s sinister. Likely a case of moving a high earners who isn’t an auto pick, on, so we can free up wages to bring in more quality where it’s needed more.

Yeh, that was my point, under Stuart we did play it out from the back hence he favoured one left and one right footed player. Under parky we didn't so he just played the best 2 defenders together regardless of what foot they were.
