The truth is there are loads of unfounded rumours made gospel by people who believe anything to discredit our glorious leader.

Perhaps he’s not such an inglorious barsted after all

If you and others want to believe that the rumours were incorrect based on the valid reasons you've stated, that is of course fair enough. I'm mainly questioning those who either believe that their opinion is fact when it isn't, completely dismiss the original rumour when it's still a possibility and somehow think that those who believe/d the original rumours now have eggs on their faces. Give your opinion but accept that it's just that. This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but there are lot of posters who are very sure of their opinion based on article which proves nothing.

 

Totally and utterly incorrect Inspector. Morrisons were involved at Board level through Ken himself being a Director for some 2/3 years, possibly the lower figure in 1973/74 and it was he, together with Jack Tordoff, who averted the Club going under by keeping the Bank at bay. The fact that they managed to achieve that without any fanfare is a lasting tribute to the pair of them so I would suggest, with respect, a bit more fact finding might have been appropriate.
Remember BPA left the FL in 1969 so some four years later the ninth largest city in the UK was facing no Football League presence. We as fans have a lot to be grateful for, at least those who remember. Jack and Ken were and always remained very close after that.
As to sponsorship my colleague at Morrisons, Martin Ackroyd the F.D. and myself annually canvassed for sponsorship at Board Meetings but it was decided if we did then what about the Bulls as they are now and the many other locations where we traded of had major employment such as Distribution depots, so it was never a runner and as far as I know is not today for probably the same reasons.

Shame a company like Walkers Crisps unlike Morrisons know that you back your city, people and football club.

What you telling me Morrisons couldn't afford to sponsor Bulls and City?

 

Might not seem like much news this but with all the rumour about sponsors being unhappy and unlikely to renew, the club's main sponsor pulling out would have fuelled that. Thankfully this seems to put another rumour to bed.

 

Personally, I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I don't think he was as idiotic as some made out but I don't think the rumours were completely made up either. I will admit that there isn't much substance to my opinion, it's just my gut instinct.

My question to you is, what makes you so sure in your assertion? Unless you don't think that it's possible to overcome hurdles/conflict in business, How would you know that there haven't been issues between Edin and our sponsors? It's the equivalent of believing that there weren't any problem between McCall and our owners because he didn't get sacked after Wembley.

Regardless of your own personal opinion on the subject, the above article neither proves or disproves the original rumours.

 

I'm presuming Edin has now found out we don't have a queue round Valley Parade outbidding each other for the shirt sponsorship and JCT know that only too well. Thats why i'm guessing Jack will be happy with the deal.

 

Good news regardless of rumours.

A poor city like Bradford we are always going to struggle for big sponsorship of multi million/billion pound companies. But we are lucky that we have two major companies in Bradford, JCT600 and Morrisons. Imo we should be making more of this, get on bended knees if needs be, offer them their brand everywhere around the club. Even Jet2, although they're based in Leeds their logo isn't all over Elland Road, we should be doing what it takes to jump in there, 3 huge companies that all out side the Premier League would kill to have on their door step.

 

There have been a lot of rumours circulating around the club over the past year or so. Some have been completely false (The Wyke bonus payment) some have been true (McCall and Rahic having and unworkable relationship, Mason's departure) and others have had an element of truth in them but have clearly been exaggerated to suit an agenda (Hendrie getting off the team bus just before the Yeovil game, but not because Rahic humiliated him). Clearly, not all rumours are bollocks and neither me or you are in a position to know which bracket this one comes under. Whilst you are convinced that Rahic hasn't had fallout with our sponsors, there are others who are and regardless of your own opinion on it, the alternative remains a distinct possibility.

 

Can I be a fan of Edin but not support City?

 

Yes Edin upset present club sponsors and there was talk of not renewing their sponsorship deals, l looks like Edin has been eating some humble pie, maybe Edin is actually learning :thumbsup:.
