Nobody is suggesting he's irreplaceable but there's two points here.

Firstly, there's at least half a squad we should be moving on before we get to Cooke.

Secondly, with all these "irreplaceable" players we move on, we always seem to end up with worse.

We’re clearly more organised than normal. 1st January and we’re already rolling out the excuses. That’s efficient, I don’t care what anyone says.

I used to be a member of the Supporters Board (not to be confused with the Supporters Trust) several years ago, initially when DB was COO (he invited me to join it) and then for a while when Mason came on board. To begin with, DB used it as a sounding board of what needed doing at the club on many fronts although most stuff on the playing front was formally off limits.

DB still used the SB to test the water on what needed doing informally and shared some stuff on the club's finances off the record and under an NDA. When he left, it started to go downhill and continued as its role was reduced. JM didn't understand how it could be used tyo benefit the club especilly after ML made it clear to a couple of us that he saw no purpose for it! Mason was scared of his own shadow and wouldn't question ML. It was JR who saw it as a way of checking views on ticket prices but even that was more a case of him explaining the merits of his cheap ticketing policy. Its influence declined swiftly.

A few of the more business orientated on the SB quickly realised that the SB was past its sell-by date and we all stepped down. It developed more into a glorified travel and fundraising group and any residual influence it had on the club's operations disappeared. Imo, it's been withering on the vine ever since.

Thing with Charman is he has a four game suspension to serve so he won't be playing in a match day squad for the next few weeks. But if we're intent on signing him, we should be making the most of it. Bring him in early and get him settled in because he's going up two divisions and going from training two nights a week to full time training every day. It's not the easiest of transitions, especially physically and whatever striker we bring in, we need them sharp, fit and ready to go as soon as they're available.

That's what a club who's remotely competent in the transfer market would do anyway.

Funny the attitude toward a player if he does or doesn't sign. If he signs he's a young striker with potential and a point to prove, if he signs for someone else he's a non league player who probably wasn't good enough. Lol.

My sentiments exactly. Angol has attributes but playing the main striker either as a lone striker or as a two upfront aren't them. Without Cook we really are toothless and the rest of the team know it, as their body language showed when he went off at Carlisle. We need competition for Cook, unfortunately that isn't Angol.

This was the whole problem yesterday. It was like the players hadn't played with each other before and players were uncomfortable in their roles. He goes on about Matty Daly having a good game, the poor lad was anonymous due to having no idea what he was supposed to be doing. He goes on about losing Watt being a blow because he's pivotal, he again gave possession away too many times before he went off. He aint pivotal.
    All very frustrating.

Both our main strikersvare injured, both the back ups are marginally better than north west counties league one standard. What do we do ?

Sign the invisible man and a goal keeper.

    Couldn't make it up.

Dear oh dear, doesn't that just sum up this club?

An owner who refuses to invest, a CEO who doesn't understand the concept of speculating to accumulate and a manager who takes pride in the fact he's only spent £40k in his career.

This cheap and shoddy attitude and mindset is ingrained throughout the club so it's no wonder we're going nowhere.

    £300,000 and doubled his wages.

Pretty silly if you ask me.

No one knows what the future holds for any club, wouldn't if be nice to have an owner/owners who showed interest and put themselves out to come from America to meet fans and give their vision going forward, with regards players and injuries every signing is a gamble Andy.

A championship player on a suspected £27k a week and a 34 year old playing in the 6th tier both mentioned on the same page, what do they both have in common? They both played for us, and some accuse the club of recruiting lazy some of our fans are even worse! Had they never played for us they’d never in a million years get a mention.

I was gonna put the same but you put it across better :) so in all these months with a new scouting set up we end up with 5 loans.
    A keeper
    A winger whose gone missing
    A winger from Hearts
A striker with 11 goals in his last 95 games
    A rookie from Town

thank the lord for our new amazing scouting set up

The club’s given up on this season. You don’t have a forward line of Cook, Robinson, Lavery and Elliot if you’re planning to score enough goals to trouble then play offs. Likewise with Threlkeld at RB. Taking the piss out of the fans in my opinion after talk of having a budget to put a good squad together and promotion. feck Sparks, Rupp and Adams.

In isolation, I'm not overly bothered that Canavan has gone. Been shite for me this season and is a position we can upgrade on. Problem is, we all know that his replacement will be worse.

Also, nothing screams "I've lost the dressing room" more than selling the man you appointed as club captain hours before the deadline.

To think a couple of whoppers said Rupp had invested this window, only getting rid of two players. Now got rid of our club captain for a few, plus the Crankshaw fee. Investment my arse.

In the build up to the window, more nonsense by Sparks. We’ll never have money to spend under Rupp, that’s what sustainable means!
