It's like Bowyer was surprised that Vaughan and Doyle weren't excellent target men despite their reputations (as goalscorers), and went out to find lads we could belt 60 yard passes at.

 

Even reading this, I see no positive to the fact Vaughan's left.

Forget the hysterical nonsense about him being a bad influence or desperate to play in League One, we both know those are excuses and a load of BS.

Vaughan, while we didn't supply him properly, still had a decent goalscoring record.

We've gone out and replaced him with lads who have WORSE goalscoring records.

 

That's it! The board are putting their faith in our manager. Doyle is/was a mis-fit here, Vaughan, pain in the arse. We are going back to Bowyer basics now so not much point in whining about it. We don't play much football, it'll all be about second balls and knock downs, Bowyer players, to do the job he'll have gained his contract on, promotion. Simple.

 

Wouldn't be surpised if we lose tomorrow he's gone.

 

If we're playing for second balls and knock downs, don't we need a clinical striker in there somewhere to feed off the lumps?

Of course he can't 'adapt'! He's a fox in the box goalscorer. He possesses the most coveted and scarce skill in the game of football. Most teams would give their eye teeth for one. But us? No, we expected him to play as a target man or a number ten. Unbelievable.
It's beyond pathetic that we couldn't summon enough attacking nous to get Doyle in the box and give him the ball there. There's no excuse, it's just rank bad management.

But "clinical" strikers, those with a high chance per goal ratio, cost big money.
