Why not play him as holding midfielder?

It's a no from me. Is he our highest paid player - if so he has not provided value for money and been a constant as part of some poor teams.

New right back and a right winger are our two priorities I think. We need backup for Sutton and Novak too if budget allows.

I think a new striker is much more of a priority than a right back mate

Right back, 2 wingers and a striker top of my list. Ideally decent cover in a CDM and CB also. Living in a dream land I know but that’s my wish list.

It depends what system though. There’s no room in the 4-2-3-1 so we’re signing a back up as an alternative to Don and Guthrie......unless they are only playing 4-2-3-1 because we don’t have a good second option? Will they tinker when new arrivals are here?

Clarke and FCD are are potential weak links if 4-2-3-1 is the long term set up IMO

My philosophy is to bring in better than what we have, not an understudy. As well as Novak has done, I would be still looking to bring in someone better, easier said than done of course!

Well we'll soon get the measure of the new team as they unveil their targets.

    Signings
We've been down the Kiefer Moore targets previously.
It's the actual signings I'll make judgments on

I think we have enough at right back. options of pace both left and right and a second striker and if possible a back up centre back and I think we will be ok this season

I agree if Hossanah isn’t out for too long. We need option of pace in place of Clarke, Pritchard and Evans if we stick to the same formation. Another striking option and cover for midfield and CB. I’d like 5 in but depends who we can ship out.

Midfielder who is comfortable getting forward and hitting the target.
Adam Phillips at Morecambe on loan from Burnley would be my choice as my other choice Scott twine at Newport might be going back to Swindon.
As for forwards I would really go for John Rooney (Waynes brother) at Stockport.
So what hes 30, he's got bite and knows where the goal is and would jump at the chance to test himself in league 2 after 6 years in the Non league.

A problem becoming from the clubs non existent transfer strategy for 2 years under Rhodes, leaving us with no balance to play a formation to its potential. God knows what they were working toward under McCall, never mind Bowyer. 4-2-3-1 best suits our limitations, defensively we look rock solid but have little in back up, upfront we are weak and last night showed we had no options available to strengthen a 4-2-3-1. Clarke looked like a player out of position and Pritchard struggles to get into games enough. For me a couple of wide options and a striker back up for Novak.

Those of you wanting 4 or 5 new bodies in the window might end up disappointed. In Turnbull's 'introduction' interview on ifollow, he mentions 'a permanent signing, a loan signing, and, hopefully, an under-23 signing'. If that's the case, it suggests to me safety/consolidation this season then the annual 'promotion push' from August til whenever it peters out. Unless, of course, they think that the current group is 2 or 3 players away from being a promotion squad.

Surely we get players in this window, which will be for the long term? Not just a quick fix to move us up the table?

We have to ensure we bring the right recruitments in to strengthen our quest for survival and also one eye on next season. I dont anticipate much more than one permanent signing and a couple of loans

He didn't say that exactly. He said he wanted to set up a database of players that had a possible permanent, loan and u23 option for each position. Worryingly he did say there'd be "1 or 2" additions in January. Hopefully that was just a turn of phrase and he didn't mean it literally.

Daft thing is, if we get the right three players we could sneak into the playoffs as there isn't one team to fear in this division.
