3 weeks ago SM said he was expected to be out for 3 months. What have you heard to the contrary?

That his injury isn’t as serious as first feared and that a return to action before end of January is expected. Lets hope so. Excellent young player with a bright future.

Hopefully that's true. Under T&S he will really flourish.

I’m sure of what I was told, which was after the date of that article - i.e. after he saw the specialist. I’m told, that his original diagnosis was based on a belief that he’d suffered a similar injury to Ismail, a complete detachment of the muscle tendon from the bone, but that the specialist diagnosis after a scan, showed that the muscle hadn’t detached and this his injury wasn’t as bad as feared. Subject to rehab progressing well, he’d be back in training after 6 weeks.

I agree. They’ll presumably know his game and his personality well. He’s a cultured defender, but he needs to develop the dark arts of the aggressive, League demands of being a centre back. If he responds as the O’Connors have, he could become a very special player.

Think Staunton would be the biggest loser in the manager / formation change. Just don't see him getting ahead of the O'Connors yet. He's not yet physical enough and does make the occasional mistake so may have to bide his time for a return to the first team.

    Not doubting you pal.

To be honest we don't need to rush him like we seem to do before. He is a talent with a bright future and we should let him recovery and build up his fitness even if it takes a little longer.

We have to O'Connors doing well as a partnership.

I don’t think we should rush him either. It is likely he could be the partner for Paudie next season but Ant O’C has been in good form for the caretakers so far and will be difficult to dislodge for now.

Agree. Don't need to change things just now but he's useful if one of the back line get a knock because the reserve list is threadbare!

Yes, stick with the O'Connor's for now.

Staunton got rushed in as part of a back three, he's had an injury, let's go back to basics and blood him in properly.

Two rumoured linked names Kyle Wootton Notts County and Jack Diamond Sunderland.

Diamond certainly impressed last season with Harrogate. Returned to parent club Sunderland in the summer I believe. Would be good signing

Wootton also had a good season in the National League last season with Notts County, not sure how he is doing this season?

I also heard another National League player, Michael Cheek from Bromley, although there are a few clubs tracking him including Portsmouth

Cannot remember where I read it from now yesterday, definitely not from Tyneside's leaking tap!

Yes Diamond doesn’t seem to have had a look in at Sunderland a goal scoring winger is just what we need. Wooton hasn’t been at county long they would probably want a fee

He scored 4 goals in 31 for Harrogate. I'd hardly classify him as a goal scoring winger. Assists - that's what we need. I can imagine Novak would enjoy getting on the end of crosses. It's been a while.

If we're looking at buying players from Notts County, wouldnt mind us trying to sign Cal Roberts instead, tricky winger, likes to take his man on and scores goals too. Hed be a huge upgrade on DMH and would provide a threat on the right hand side

Diamond would be a good signing, looks to have potential whenever i've seen him play. Not seen much of Wooton.
