January 2021 Transfer Window

I wonder if f this window we will be able to get things done early or like most January windows will we be scrambling with the rest on the final day

 

We are in league 2. If our ambitions are anything less than reaching the playoffs until it is no longer mathematically possible then shame on us.

 

Under the old regime we would probably end up on January 31st just giving Guthrie an extra 2 year extension....

 

Then sacking him four games later if he failed to score?

We're 18th in the bottom league of professional football. If we're bringing in players to boost the squad rather than the first XI then we've learnt absolutely nothing from these last few disastrous years.

 

Coming up to nearly a year without a Guthrie goal isn't it?

This club needs to start thinking LONG TERM

 

1 or 2 additions won’t be enough to ensure our safety. With a full squad, which we largely now have, we’re a solid side but we remain one who won’t score many goals. An injury to either O’Connor would expose us, we only have 1 proper defensive midfielder in Sutton, and we’ve seen what happens with Novak out.

We have to be super wary of complacency, because I can already see it creeping in.

 

You are always going to get your knickers in a twist because the way your brain works is that either "something is or it isn't".

You can't understand that to get from A to B is a journey where some things are improved along the way and some things still need to be fixed. The way your brain works is to say "we are here now and these things are wrong" instead of "we came from over there, we've fixed these things and we need to fix those things to get over there"

 

You’re quite right. The work to add Turnbull and a player database with supporting scouting system is very much a positive - but all we’re really doing is establishing a level of support infrastructure that the vast majority of clubs already have in place, and have for a while.

You're spot on! What we are doing now is what many clubs has have in place for years. I called Rhodes out years ago and this is one of the reasons why.

Great Ryan has done a little start but he needs to stay away from thinking he's Football Manager! More support network needs to be hired.

 

How long has he been in place exactly

 

He has been acting CEO at least 6-8 months plus.

 

Apparently has baggage for some reason, not sure if it's an attitude thing. However I think our two interim managers being younger might be able to help him. He's quality on his day as is any winger in this league. Another one for the attacking front. Joe Garner has just had his contract terminated at Wigan. He surely could score the goals at this level.

 

Really good player but has attitude problems by the sounds of it.
