Why do I feel like I'm getting labelled as a Guthrie fan?

    I've made two consistent points:

    1) our strike force is weaker with Samuels and Guthrie gone, and only Rumarn in

    2) We need to replace him with better before we consider ourselves strengthened.

I thought Guthrie was pap, and said so since pretty much his first game. But that doesn't mean we can employ silly logic like we're better now he's gone or anyone is better than Guthrie. That's wrong. We'll be better when we sign better.

He put the hard yards in when the likes of Novak and Guthrie were injured, guessing not fully fit in a lot of those games.

This is interesting if true, could be a game changer if we do make a move.

The Colchester chairman says that 2 or3 chairman from our league have stated they don't know how they are going to pay next months wages. We should find out who they are and see what strikers they've got .

In my opinion AOC’s distribution is woeful and could cause all sorts of problems in front of the back four. As a fix during the game, possibly. From the start, a no from me.

French has never let the side down when he has played Hosannah is on loan and FCD is 18 so unless they bring in another better right back he should stay

Hosannah is well in front of FCD in terms of development. He's also a natural modern full back which I'm not sure will eventually be FCD's main role.

That said, it's FCD's position to lose and given that he's our player I'm delighted that he's being given the game time he needs to develop.

That has always been a big bug bear of mine with McCall. He always talked about players who "could do a job" in various roles and seemingly wanted a squad of utility players rather than working out the individual weak areas in a squad and addressing them properly.

Never forget that you are trying to reason with a man who thought Josh Wright was a great player for us.

Well, let's give him some credit. Imagine what it must be like being a young player who knows he's not yet getting the best out of his career, constantly slagged off and demeaned on social media? It's cruel stuff. I hope he resurrects his career somewhere.

Parker's blog suggesting we're looking at perm options 'to set the base for the future'

Sounds sensible if we can get the right folk in.

Was that Rupp though or should the blame mainly lie at the doors of Rhodes and McCall?

Maddison has loads of end product and would be one of the best players in the league, I'd be over the moon to have him here

We signed players in the last few hours but for me they look the right type of players. Pace skilful and an eye for a goal. Those type of players command fees later down the line if they do well in this league.
None of it has felt panicked or someone offering us a journeyman or a player just wanting a few games out on loan like Butterfield before.
    These are players of potential.

it will be good to see a city side with pace and skill for a change. Can’t wait.
Kudos to all for the window. Good on paper let’s hope they compliment what we’ve got and we keep this run going

Neither would I. Clarke makes way, Evans over to the right, Vernham on the left. The rest unchanged and a bench of Huffer, Canavan, Clarke, Crankshaw, Stevens, Cook and either Foulds or Scales.

And AOC needs a performance after being shaky against Barrow, or Canavan will be in for the following game.

True, and this isn't a dig. But we need to consider the underspend from the summer, along with the McBurnie money and the Covid grant we've received. He's acted to protect his investment, he's spent at a time when he didn't absolutely have to. So fair play. I'm keen to see whether our approach from this January is repeated as we go forward. We've set a standard now - not in the volume of deals done, but with the decisiveness and boldness of action, we've acted aggressively and beaten off other clubs to targets, been ruthless in who we've moved out, we've worked to a plan, we've made no mention of deficits etc. That's the template. And hopefully the summer now needs no more than 4 or 5 deals in and out.
