Agree with most of your thread apart from the AOC bit. When at Aberdeen, in the big games against Celtic and Rangers he played just in front of the centerbacks and did a good job but I agree that we don't really need that here.

Definitely don't need it, we'd be bonkers to interfere with what Sutton and Watt are doing - and Cooke needs to stay in the staring line up too.

Some on this forum would be trying to shuffle the midfield round to incorporate Andy Cook and Anthony O'Connor.

    No thanks.

I don't think anyone is suggesting splitting Sutton and Watt. The question was who would play DM if one of those two gets injured, and AOC seems the most likely option.

I'd keep the same team on Saturday. Assuming the game is on - snow forecast for Friday and Saturday...

The weirdest thing I've seen on here is that post with a tweet suggesting someone might be pining for DMH. Still, we got someone to take Guthrie off our hands so who knows.
But in a serious vein, love the way T&S have shifted a load of deadwood. Anyone think any of our previously under-performing players might have taken notice?

Guthrie has done the business elsewhere.

That counts for a lot in football.

DMH has never done the business anywhere, and I'd be stunned if he got another chance given he's not exactly a kid.

Just picking up on a couple of your points.
A O’C in midfield if one of Sutton/Watt are injured/ill/suspended doesn’t seem to be ridiculous.
Novak has half a season left on his current contract. I don’t think anyone is saying he is on ‘his way’ now, rather that if he remains injury prone for the rest of the season, we may not seek to offer him a fresh contract.

I think if Sutton were injured or suspended then AOC could be a shoo in for his position short term, but we would lose that drive into the edges of the box that Sutton has. If Watt were injured then Callum Cooke drops back and we potentially play Pritchard on the right and Clarke in the middle of the three. I'm not sure how both Rowe & Cook work together but we have options now and it's a really nice first world problem to have.

For me, if Novak proves his fitness by the end of the season I'd give him another one year deal without any hesitation. To have a choice of Cook/ Rowe/ Novak is a luxury we haven't had for a long time.

If we do go with a formation that plays both Rowe & Cook then I see shades of the Bobby Campbell/ John Hawley partnership and that would be immense.

Yes, David Blunkett was manager at the time.

That's another option, my point was we're not short for DM if necessary as I was replying to someone saying we needed another one

I don't think it is much more likely, if one of Sutton or Watt is out I think we'd almost certainly drop Cooke back

Let's hope it doesn't come to that then as I fear we'd be overrun like we often were when they were paired together earlier in the season.

In my opinion AOC’s distribution is woeful and could cause all sorts of problems in front of the back four. As a fix during the game, possibly. From the start, a no from me.
