Why is there always an over reaction whenever a different option is debated?

 

That has always been a big bug bear of mine with McCall. He always talked about players who "could do a job" in various roles and seemingly wanted a squad of utility players rather than working out the individual weak areas in a squad and addressing them properly.

 

Football is no different to any other sport although for some reason people like McCall think players can play anywhere. Its why in cricket certain batsman can open the batting, others are suited to the middle order and where you set a field depnding on your bowlers strengths. And that phrase 'utility' player literally equates to 'player not good enough to hold down a specific role'. Its why Parkinsons defensive set up effectively gained us our success under his tutorship, each player in the position they were designed to play.

 

Never forget that you are trying to reason with a man who thought Josh Wright was a great player for us.

 

Whilst I don’t think FCD should be dropped I think Hosannah is a class above and one of only a couple who stood out earlier in the season

 

Agree that Hosannah looked good., but I think he is more suited to a right attacking role from what I have seen of him, not sure he would suit a conventional back four

 

Got to agree with you there Park, the lad was one of the only bright spots in a terrible first half of the season. Has pace to burn, ideal for the overlapping full back.

 

At the moment he doesn't look an out and out attacker or defender althought that could have something to do with how Leeds play and how they train their youngster like they do the first team where its all based around attack. Further down the league you need to be role specific.

 

Be careful you don't trip getting back down off that soapbox....

 

But still be overtaken by an 18 year old and is on the bench.

His level is National League.

 

Plus where we signed him from can’t seem him been on massive wages? Although I do think In the summer we may look to move him on

 

French is quicker than FCD, a better header of the ball and his delivery into the box is probably better. I say probably because French's delivery is good but I can't recall FCD making any. However. When defending at RB for some reason French nearly always seems to show his man inside which can be a big problem

 

Fordy - if his level is National league, that shows significant improvement on the level he was at when we got him. Who's to say that the improvement can't continue?

 

I'd look to loan him for a year. His pace and athleticism can be a big asset so if he can show continual improvement over the next 12 months then we could look to bring him back into the squad. If he doesn't we release him, on the amount he'll be on I reckon its worth using patience and giving him every chance.

 

He isn't replacing anyone a CB and in fact we have brought in 2 players that can play CB in 2 weeks.

As for RB a 18 year old has moved ahead of him and it will be foolish of us to have 2 developing RB's of not sure quality.

As @Faithful Bantam says loan him out if we want to keep him and let some other team develop him but he isn't ready for us yet. No chance.

 

His contract is up in May.
