I don't think they were told to say that, I think it was genuinely true that it wasn't the club that wanted him out. I think McCall knew full well at the time of the online forum that Vaughan wasn't happy and wanted out, and he was possibly being a bit naive in thinking that he could work his magic on him and change his mind. He got that wrong but I don't blame him for trying - he'd have been mad not to. What I do have a problem with is the other statements about playing hard ball and not letting him go to a rival without significant compensation. We've ended up doing the exact opposite of that and it just makes us look ridiculous.

Maybe you need to put yourself forward as our new CEO if everything is so easy.
I'm not sure the Nahki situation was much different he had 18 months on his contract against Vaughans 24, and told the club he would only go to Town, very similar I would suggest.

sorry but McCall has to take his share of the blame for this fiasco.. he's effectively known since the first day he came back that Vaughan is both our highest earner and didn't want to be here. Vaughan himself says he and Tranmere have been working on a way out since lockdown with McCall and the club knowing that the salary cap was going to come in.

they've spent the last 8 months twiddling their thumbs hoping that Vaughan would somehow change his mind.. McCall and the club made a clear statement that he would not be allowed to leave on the cheap and they would play 'hardball'.. the club then sign a lad for an undisclosed fee and McCall now comes on the radio saying no clubs are paying fees when we are doing it ourselves. we've allowed Vaughan to control this whole situation - McCall himself says there was negativity before pre season even started. the situation could have been handled months ago in two simple phonecalls; McCall to Vaughan "morning James, you've been gone for 6 months now and we're looking at next season - do you want to be here or not?" the answer would have been "no, sorry I don't." McCall then rings Sparks / Rhodes, "I've spoken to James, he doesn't want to be here so I want him gone before preseason starts so I can have the best chance of getting someone in before preseason and the salary cap."

nobody in this situation has a clear defence to argue against the fact that they've all been incompetent in this situation - none of them escape criticism for allowing this to drag on for months when it should have been sorted a long time ago.

now we're stuck trying to find a replacement within a salary cap and friendlies supposedly starting at the weekend.

Everyone has to be questioned with regards the situation we find ourselves in where have I said otherwise, in fact if you read one of my previous posts I say exactly that, after speaking to Vaughan and him making if quite clear he would not play for Bradford City again that's the time the club should have made the call not sure it would have been any different to the situation we find our selves in now, but yes we should have made the call earlier.
Heres a suggestion (with some it will go down like a lead balloon) but maybe just maybe the club are awaiting confirmation with regards an Inquiry we have made with regards a player we are interested in signing of taking on loan ?.

if this is the case, the problem is we will wait and wait and wait until we get an answer from one rather than going for a few at the same time.. Warnock has a 7 day rule; if after 7 days they haven't decided he pulls the plug. maybe McCall is looking for the next Haris Vukcic or the lad James who was as Hartlepool he brought in. his track record doesn't fill me with confidence that we'll even get an adequate replacement.

I'm sure if I did a little research I could find loads of players teams have identified and have had to wait until the last minute that hardly pulled the trees up, that scenario is not unique to Stuart McCall or Bradford City.
You come across as having a very unhealthy dislike for Stuart McCall as a medical man as yourself should let it go.

I agree with @brisbanebantams@brisbanebantams. We have no coherent plan of what we are going to do next or forward thinking and this again boils down to leaving it all In the managers hands solely.

Like I’ve said before if we had a half decent scouting department we would have 3 names ready to go to work on as targets who are what the manager wants.
We could have even signed a player yesterday, announced Vaughan has gone in the afternoon and that would have surely dampened some of the grumbling about the club.
If we had our signing ready too we could have kept the Vaughan thing quiet to his agent and got him in on fairly average money. Say we are constrained by the salary cap etc.

But instead we are doing things in reverse again and we will not win in this situation. Maybe we will get lucky one in ten but usually we will fail.
Agents now know we have room to manoeuvre. Know we will want a player in the door.

nothing is anything joined up thinking at this club when it comes to transfer windows. No matter where we are the league we always end up losing our

I believe most when they found out (and acknowledged) the situation under Rahic blamed both him and his ex-partner, like it or Rhodes has stepped in and tried to turn the club around, we are not privy to exactly what the financial situation was once Rupp was tipped off.
Rupp asked Rhodes to come back as he didnt have a clue who else to turn to, Julian took it on a temporary basis whilst he looked for a replacement, wether some believe he had his replacement lined up before he/she gave backward is down to each fans view.

Why oh why do Bradford City always act as though we have no
    bargaining power?

Vaughan needed to go but the way it's panned out is nothing
short of defeatist! Tranmere want our contracted player and
offer a part exchange that we don't want.Ok,his wage could be
used to sign a couple of lesser talented players but if we have
paid Vaughan a penny in the contractual negotiations then I'm
    appalled!

Lending him out because he didn't get along with Bowyer may
of been the practical thing to do, especially if Tranmere were
paying part of his wages, but, not seeing the possibility or probability
that he would want to get a permanent deal being the location suited
his domestic life was naive to say the least. Then McCall comes in and
thinks he is part of his squad moving forward just emphasises the lack
of communication going on in the club, never mind with the fans.

Rhodes owned the club and then he willing gives up his time to become
an employee with what must be a different mindset as it's not his money
    running the club.

We need a new CEO and someone like Baldwin would be ideal but where
and when might that happen? If Rhodes is the sole searcher for his replacement
where does that leave us? Does he actually want to leave? His salary must be
worth his while or as a business man I would of thought he would want to be
in charge of his own business,I know I would.

I hope the club do something of note sooner than later,to appease the fans and
give us some hope for the new season.

No one should be afraid to voice their opinion it's a football forum posters on both sides post with passion.
Things with regards our manager aren't going to change in the immediate future they will if Stuart does not get results and his past history has been done to death, heres a suggestion why don't us Bradford City take onboard that everyone concerned with our club are doing their best to get us through these difficult times, and when season tickets become available we do what we normally do and purchase one or more and support the club.
I'm not saying the club or individuals shouldn't be questioned, were all guilty of that after a defeat we believed the manager made the wrong call ETC.
I believe even though we have different opinions on different aspects with regards the running of the club and its employees we all want a little something to cheer us all up, so yes I'll use the old cliche "let's get behind the lads", nows not the time to bail out, not that I'm saying you are.

nobody is bailing out and everybody wants the club to do well.. but it is clear to see that in some areas they are inept. got to break some eggs to make an omelette.

I was told by those who know, and it’s been spoken of in public, that the financial situation was dire when Rhodes came back and fair play to them both, him and Rupp have got the club on a more even keel off the pitch. The lack of stability is crippling though.

Good to heard I put you down as a one club fan who accepts the ups and downs.
Your correct there is always room for improvement and I'm sure there will be changes in the future, be it a new CEO, owner, manager etc only time will tell but I think at the present moment it's all about getting this season sorted and to see what the future brings.

I dont disagree the Vaughan situation could have been handled sooner after he and Stuart spoke, but I accept the logic of getting Vaughan back into the day to day involvement with regards football and hoping that helps him to change his mind, although I'm also not sure it would have turned out any different, players usually get their way in modern football.
As you say you was told by people close to the club just how dire the situation was at the time like it or not as a club I believe we are in a far stronger position than many clubs in league two, were still holding our end in cricketing terms, only Rupp knows how long he is prepared to fund us but so far he has been as good as his word, what the future holds we dont know there are the usual rumours doing the rounds with regards future suitors and that in itself sounds great but then again so did Rack & Ruin.

If it's 'very similar', where is the transfer fee for Vaughan? We must have commanded one, if the circumstances are the same? No, in reality, we held more cards with Vaughan than we did with Wells. Vaughan isn't worth as much as Wells, but that's beside the point, if Tranmere wanted him and Vaughan wanted away, tell them what the price is. I don't care if it was £100,000 or £500,000.

Not having a sensible transfer policy is the reason we mess up time and time again. I'm not exactly a fan of MacAnthony, but his 'renew or be transfer listed' policy let's everyone know where they stand, even if those players then walk away on a free at the end of their contract.

Fine, but Vaughan wasn't at the end of his contract, was wanted by another club, wanted to go there, all the necessary criteria for a sale - in fact, I can't actually think of any additional criteria required when selling a player to another club?!

EDIT: There is one other criteria required in a sale. The desire to sell, something we apparently lacked in this instance.

that's one of the biggest problems with the club; it's always about getting this season sorted. no long term vision and we start again when the next manager is sacked. all this 'big club' nonsense and then the club wonders why people become disillusioned with it.
