A new owner and a nice new stadium similar to Rotherham's down the Air Valley would do.

I think the stadium issue is underplayed.

Valley Parade is way past it’s sell by date and not just the stadium but the whole surrounding area adds to the feeling of down trodden decay.

I do not mean to be disrespectful but had the events of 1985 not occurred I believe we may well have moved out.

I get a feeling that there is a guilt complex. We can’t move or even discussing moving because of the tragedy. We feel we have to stay.

We can move on whilst still remembering and acknowledging what happened then.

If the area has such a devastating effect on our league position how come Liverpool and their anfield home are currently walking away with the premiership?
Sounds like a lame excuse to me.

We should have, Jack Tordoff wanted the club to go to Shipley, Stafford didn't, the former was proved right with the subsequent demographic change leaving the club marooned in the "wrong" place as it's fans moved ever further away and with it's local residents not particlularly interested. This has not happened to any other club.

Rhodes leaving with Rupp still owning would be infinitely preferable to Rupp selling and Rhodes buying.

Never gone along with this we've been a 3rd 4th division club for most of our history so that's where we belong. Wigan spent most of the last century in non league but it's not where they belong now. In the last century up until early 70s we had a fierce City Avenue rivalry with both clubs pulling in 8/10 thousand but supporters detesting each other. This just led to split support along with Bradford Northern and both football clubs pulling each other down. Even now in Bradford I know so many people in Bradford who's dads were Avenue fanatics and they are now Leeds fans and Bradford Bulls fans with no love for City.
We need the sort of ambition and belief that Richmond had in the 90s and yes I know his greed and hubris wrecked the club, but he gave Bradford City and their fans something to believe in, that we could be better. If only some entrepreneur could see what can still be achieved at City, the club could be pulled up by its bootlaces and still achieve what we did so successfully in the 90s.
Wouldn't it be great to meet Rupp and Rhodes and put to them a plan which Rupp could afford and persuade him that long term he will get so much more for his investment by going for it rather than just treading water and hope for a cup run.

If they were the only two options, I'd agree with you although I could never imagine JR buying the club for anything other than a knock down price! But my preference remains that I'd like to see both leave our club and be replaced by a new owner(s) and CEO who would have a positive vision for the club and the means to deliver on it and not run it simply on a making ends meet basis. I'm just dreaming though.

Whether we're a satellite city to Leeds or not is not significant to the football team. We're still the 7th (I think) largest city in England which makes us different to Halifax, Huddersfield, Rotheram, Rochdale, Oldham etc.

We have shown in our most recent seasons in the top 2 divisions that crowds of 18-20k are the norm and that was before cheap tickets. People will come to watch a good standard of football against decent teams who bring lots of fans for atmosphere.

That is the potential we're talking about.

I agree that the ground is a huge sticking point but as the opening post suggests, this is part of the crossroads we're at. The lease is running down so that should form a part of the overall discussions.

We are also the youngest city (population wise) in the whole country, another area of potential that should be tapped into.

And the third demographic is the diverse population, in particular the considerable central and eastern European immigrant community. Those areas of the world love their football. We should look at tapping into that fanbase and possibly even thinking about a proper scouting and recruiting capability for that part of the world. Position ourselves as a feeder club for players from that region looking to forge a career in a more lucrative footballing country.

This isn't said flippantly but pro footballers are not on the list on 'skilled employees' under the post-Brexit immigration rules unlike professional ballet dancers! It's therefore highly likely that won't happen and European footballers will be treated exactly like other footballers are currently treated from around the world.

There are discussions between the FA, PL and EFL at the moment on how the new immigration rules should beapplied to football. They are supposedly presenting their collective views to the Govt soon(ish!). As you might imagine there are very different views but the most likely outcome will be to apply the current rules on non-EU players to all players, including from EU27. And that means in simple terms that the player has to have represented his country at international levels to get a work permit irrespective of earnings.

scouting has moved on from just going and looking at games, we need a complete overhaul of the scouting system from junior to the first team. we're so far behind in terms of how we find players it's untrue.

    Apples and oranges.

Since being promoted into Liverpool the First/Premiership in 1962 they have have had an almost constant stream of success, FA Cups, Euro Cups, Championships so to some extent where the ground is is meaningless because they gave built up a huge fan base.

In the 60’s, 70’s etc when they were getting 30/40 thousand Bradford City was getting 3,4 maybe 5 thousand

So trying to compare the ability of Liverpool to attract fans to their ground to Bradford City’s ability really is nonsensical,

Easy peasy then. Why don't you drop the EFL, the FA, the PL and while you're at it the Home Secretary an email and tell them of your suggestion to ignore the 'points' section of the new immigration rules? You know, the bit which largely defines 'skilled employees', ie the migrants who will be allowed into the country, in terms of educational attainment?
