From a Wednesday fan born and bred in Bradford it really does pain me to see my hometown club in such a mess

Whoever comes in has to deal with low morale, no where to go transfer wise and a dozen or so games to galvanise a squad and keep the team up

Next you have to look who is available. Now is not the time for inexperience both at this level and possibly experience this season

The fans have to ask themselves what they want. Is it survival at all costs or are you happy with relegation but you have a likeable manager.

We had the same issue many years ago when Warnock was linked with our job. Fans revolted Warnock went to Cardiff and the rest is history

For me this then leads to one man, who I admit is an odious individual, but ticks all the boxes for what you need. Steve Evans would keep City up. Give it to him till the end of the season and see what happens in the summer.

He has something to prove to the Stans fans, the clubs in safe hands:)
The question now is will Stefan continue with his support of our club.

Me too, I haven’t bought my ST yet, and I won’t be if that apology for a human being steps into this club. There are plenty of managers out there.

I feel for Hopkin but in truth it’s probably for the best for 2 reasons.

We were going down with him in charge no question about it and this just may give us a glimmer of hope

Secondly I understand the players had no confidence in his managerial skills.

    Wish him well

There's absolutely no certainty that Steve Evans would keep city up. It's more of a hope or perhaps he might be one of the best candidates for the job. If he loses his first 4 games though. . . . . fans would turn very very quickly. It would be Collins all over again. Collins came in for some serious abuse. We don't need that at our club, it's the last thing it needs at the moment.

Losing the fitness coach is also a bit of a blow.
Would be very interested to hear DH's side of things. Why he walked when we're not mathematically down and all that.

He would have more Cred had he done that immediately after the Gillingham farce.

I've to agree with this 100% with this! That's why I felt he walked also.

Yes, he might of worked hard but he lost the dressing room and the respect of the players.

This is a massive lesson to the likes of @Jason McKeown@Jason McKeown and @EwanJM@EwanJM because Hopkin has made them look a fool by them trying to defend him.

Always put Bradford City first not the people that work there!

NO ONE IS BIGGER THAN BRADFORD CITY FOOTBALL CLUB!

I suggested quite similar a few weeks ago. I meant it as a gut feeling, not a prophecy.

I don’t like Evans either but I’d put that to one side if he’s the man to keep us up

Bradford City staying up comes way before my personal preferences

I am glad he as left. He made fundamental mistakes when he blamed the players especially hard on O'donnell. Probably lost the dressing room. He seemed very disorganised and tried numerous formations that seemed to confuse players.

As a United fan this same comment came up when Jose was sacked but it seems clear that its bullshit now. Players have to feel confident to perform and alot of that confidence has to come from the manager. If players are being played out of position and being asked to do a job they aren't natural or suited for no matter how professional they are they will struggle.

We all saw the difference in the players during that decent run when he had them playing more to their strengths but rather than take that as a sign of what was needed to get the best out of the players he started playing them all in unfamiliar roles again that didn't suit them. He fails as a manager because he has a style that he wants to play and even if he doesn't have the squad makeup to do that he will persist.

I said elsewhere that Hopkin is a more basic version of Jose, in that he is one trick dinosaur who is stubborn, lacks any man management skills and is always looking for someone else to blame. Quitting now just shows that further as he is now trying to shift the blame onto whoever takes over.

And for people saying that he couldn't bring in the players he wanted due to finances so had his hands tied behind his back. The thing is while you were near the top of the wage limit you let a number of higher paid players go so there was some budget there. You were short of Wingers and Centre Backs and he decided to bring in a revolving door of CM's, most of whom had injury issues which continued at City or whom can't even make the starting 11. A crock RB when Caddis is about the only player he brought in who is doing well-meaning he would have to play in his less natural role of LB and then went chasing a TM despite not having Wingers or at least the players to be able to allow the FB's to play as more WB's. And while having a good number of strikers already none of which can play as a TM meaning even if they got a TM the situation would have been that the primary tactic would have relied on a single player to work, they struggle or get injured and they had no-one to fill the role. He should have been focusing on getting in a good CB and at least one winger (ideally more of an Inside forward but who can goto the byline and pull low balls back which would suit players like Doyle).

Basically, what budget there was he wasted rather than looking at the squad, working out how to get the best out of those players and then looking to supplement areas that lacked depth.

The positive is if you bring in a new manager with the right attitude and not another stubborn manager who will only play the way he wants to play you have the basis of a good team as shown by the run Hopkins had. There are areas you lack depth and an injury could be a problem (CB especially). Just a shame Hopkin didn't quit sooner, ideally in Jan so a new manager could bring some players in but certainly before the last couple of games. The next 3 after all are going to be tough to get results in, then you have one winnable game before 3 more tough ones. If he can get them playing better though 4 of the last 5 are massivily winable

It will be interesting if Drury brings the likes of Wright and company back into the fold, clean slate and all that, although we all wanted Hopkin's time at the club ti be sucsessful I questioned his tactics of leaving players out and having kids with very little experiance on the bench.

Would we actually pay money to bring a manager in? We already have at least a £2M deficit this season. Stefan needs to come out and let us know if he's in it for the long haul or not.

He’s assistant manager not fitness coach.
