Good three points in the bag even with injuries

Made it hard for ourselves with bad bad misses

 

Was a good atmosphere in the Midland Road today

 

Oldham were class to be fair

 

Like I said, too many of them were trying too hard and wanting to be the hero. Bit more composure and communication needed in the final third.

 

My thoughts.

For all their possession, Oldham created hardly any chances.

We missed a hatful. Should have been three ahead before they scored.

We should have had a penalty in first half. Blatant push which the ref waved away, then penalised Angol five minutes later for a lesser push.

Angol is a massive handful, but needs to learn to get his weight over the ball when shooting. The one time he did that, he scored.

Their left winger was very good. Unsurprisingly, FCD struggled against him.

Evans did ok in CDM first half. When he went off, and Cooke had to drop back, we were overrun in midfield, couldn't keep the ball and lost a lot of creativity.

We are very dangerous on the break.

Cook was poor. Their CB had him in his pocket all game.

We need Songo, Sutton and Threlkeld back fit asap.

 

Thought we were shite but take the 3 points.

We lack quality and that’s so clear.

 

Best team lost. It was a joy to watch Oldham play football, but a City wins a win.
Hope Adams can get us to play better. Game plan was poor today

 

Talking to Threkeld and he said he could be out a fortnight.

 

People saying we didn’t create much? Really? When we were on the ball we looked dangerous IMO. Vernham wasted good positions several times though and Angol should have had a hat-trick before he scored the pen.

on the ball i was happy but the problem is we couldnt get the ball off them often enough. Oldham can play a bit.

 

3 points, decent enough spectacle of a game. Impressed with Ridehalgh, overlapping and general defensive duties.

Some criticism of City on here but I'd be awfully worried if I was an Oldham fan. Absolute rank.

 

He is not a bad player at all and and would compliment Cooke?

 

Honestly, I don't see it like this. Some OK link up play but created little with bugger all up top. horrific keeper.

Thought we were poor today. Oldham ran rings round us in midfield and always had the easy switch out wide. We struggled to get a grip of the game and the composure on the ball was lacking. Too much hoofball to Cook when he wasn't winning a thing in the air.

But for all their good play, Oldham were pretty useless in the final third.

We had more chances in front of goal but again our finishing was terrible. I can't believe nobody noticed their keeper was injured and if we'd have just got some efforts on target then I'm sure we would've scored more.

 

Agree with all of that.
I really did enjoy the last minute penalty though. Sweet revenge after the flares, spilling on to the pitch OTT celebrations for their equaliser.
Their bench sent a sub round with a message to their keeper just after they scored. Next thing he is collapsed in a heap. Blatant time wasting and cheating, got what it deserved.

 

Bammalanggadingdong was decent. Knows how to draw a foul. Good feet.

 

Too much route one at times, once again our finishing was shocking, on a better day Angol could/should have had a hat-trick possibly four, very wasteful but he got the three points in the end which if I was an Oldham fan I'd be a little disappointed after equalising, talk about get out of jail free.

 

Can't complain about the three points but if we're being honest with ourselves, their keeper should've stopped both our goals.
Still, onwards and upwards, a win is a win.
