Thought Oldham had a lot of possession but I can't recall ROD having many actual saves to make obvs apart from the goal. He did make a good block in the first half.

We should have been 3/4-0 up when they scored.

Would like to see the pen tackle again was not sure as I thought Angol went down quite easily. Happy it was given though.

You would think after all this time people would be a bit more chilled but the absolute bell ends in front of me were at the team from minute 1. Get out they constantly shouted. Close him down. Christ you would think they were watching PL football.

How did FCD get MOTM?

Good job they were crap up top though otherwise we would have been looking at a home defeat.

Would like to make my mind up about how good we are once we have our best 11 on the pitch.

Vernham was a threat late on.

Finally to both sets of fans today-you were superb. Apart from the lone Oldham fan near the back who leapt over the netting to throw a few haymakers after we scored the winner.

Best team lost? You mean the one that had loads of possession but created virtually nothing from it except a speculative shot from distance that possibly took a deflection on it way in through a crowd of players?
Whereas we, with two of our first choice midfielders injured and forced to play most of the second half with our creative fulcrum forced to go to DM, looked dangerous every time we broke forward and wasted several golden scoring opportunities.
I'd rather be creating lots of chances and missing some than playing pretty approach play with little actual goal threat.

We looked a run of the mill fourth division outfit for most of the match and, on this showing, proved your "lack of quality" comments. I'd take a fully fit Novak, over Cook, any day. Evans played well until he got injured and we certainly missed him after he went off.

Early days, but it was encouraging how we bounced back after their late equaliser.

 

All three games this season we've created chances, a big positive. With a bit of composure and a natural finisher we could have easily won all three games. That said, today we looked short in central midfield and the injuries haven't helped. Oldham were their usual self, at times moved the ball a level above us but wide open at the back. We really should have had more than two quite fortunate goals to show for the chances we had, on another day we won't get an opposition keeper as charitable.

That's OK then. Imagine if we could pass, we would have won by more, had more shots on and off target, more dangerous attacks and more control in the final third.....

As for the game, Oldham played some good stuff and were very threatening out wide, yet they were very toothless up front.

City created the better chances and should have been out of sight before that equaliser pegged us back.

Thought Evans did well before his toe injury.

Angol was a handful and impressed. Disappointed with Cook though

I think Songo'o is going to make a big difference when he eventually plays.

How was the second goal fortunate? It was a blatant pen.

 

To be honest, i've just had a word with myself. Adams's MO is to win this division at all costs. We got three points and didn't play well. I get the feeling that we'll be seeing a lot of this over the season, and you know what? If we get promoted, we'll forget about the lucky/gotoutofjail/didntderve wins. I'll take last min penalty winners all season.

And yes, I've switched to the double IPA's.

We played well, our defence never really troubled and soaked up any pressure, Canavan was a rock and looked a class above. The formation did appear to leave us exposed on the flanks at times, our full backs had their work cut out, FCD especially. Vernan lively we needed to play more football that we did at times, gifting possession too easily and squandering chances when players better placed.

No complaints from me. a solid base to build on and a very hardworking performance with a great fighting spirit, Deserved city win even if their keeper does have crisp packet hands!

 

A very aft name for the referee Steve Martin, what a comedian.
