He grabbed the ball. Very strange behaviour for someone that doesn't want to take a penalty.

I think after taking everything in to account yesterdays performance typified the way we will play going forward.
The big occasion was testing for this new group of players for sure and at times I felt we tended to overplay things when in possession.
Having been at Exeter and Forest that was by far the least impressive performance but the team as only just started its journey.
Derek Adam's teams don't tend to play a high possession game but it's clear it's what you do with the ball when you've got it that counts.
If that's his philosophy to winning football games then so be it.
On to Tuesday under the lights.

Did you hear the Radio Leeds interview with Angol after the match? Quite an entertaining review of the penalty...

Oldham had 65% possession yesterday it means nothing if you can't turn that massive ball retention into goals.

As you say Morecambe had one of the lowest possession stats in the league but were 3rd highest scorers I believe,
We've created chances in all 3 competitive games we've played so far even though we've been wasteful in the final third, I'd prefer to be creating goal scoring chances than not.

I think at this early stage with so many signings it was just good to get a win yesterday. A solid start with a good away draw at Exeter and a win today. Yes if wasn’t pretty but we need a good foundation for the season and if we get that I think we have a good chance.

slightly worrying about the injuries. I know we said our new physio/sports science department was all sorted but is it? Or is it just bad luck? 2 players away from being a very good side I think

No bigger call than in the first minute, it was a nailed on penalty, I watch Quest this morning and not one Oldham player contested the call most holding their heads knowing that stupid challenge had cost them the game.
To the referees credit he was in a great position to see the tackle and had no hesitation in immediately pointing to the spot, we got out of jail but should have had the game won before the 94 minute.

Angol has shown Eisa the way forward , I’m very impressed with his attitude Dave, Eisa has to prove it now, as they are both competing for the same spot.

After just seeing him in that cameo against Avenue I thought Angol was a shrewd recruit, now I’m more convinced. Goalie flapping or not yesterday, even after all those near misses he’s had previously, he wasn’t frightened to have a pop.
    It paid off.

I like the lad …a lot. In that interview yesterday he came across as grateful for the chance he has been given . Come what may as the season gets going we will see if he’s worth a year adding to his contract.

There is also a difference between players pulling up with injuries (as happened a lot last year) and players receiving an injury as a result of the actions of another player. I don't know how Songo's injury happened but Threlkeld, Sutton and Evans injuries were all due to the latter and are not things the back room staff can do a lot about, regardless of how good they are.

I believe moving from the top of the Kop to where they were yesterday is mistake, chanting/singing coming from the top of the Kop seemed to enhance the noise as it cascaded down thd Kop and across the stadium.

Tough game, but an entertaining one, a draw probably a fair result on balance. Their formation caused us all sorts of problems and had they been more efficient up top they'd have come away with at least a draw i think. Not seen too many teams play a 3-1-4-1-1 at V.P and we couldnt seem to fully get to grips with it. They constantly left a player out wide and us playing so narrow left both full backs really exposed. Can understand the criticism of FCD but I thought he grew into the game and dealt with it as well as can be expected given his age/experience, playing out of position really and not having a structured formation in front of him for protection. When Evans went off we seemed to try overload the midfield areas in a 4-2-2-2 and whilst we created chances from it on the break, it definitely left us exposed in wide areas. Assume Adams decided on that as a way to counteract us not having enough bodies in midfield, im sure had Songo'o/Sutton been available we'd have played a more conventional 4-3-3 and dealt better then them in wide areas. If we'd just gone 4-4-2 I imagine they'd have overran our two in midfield so think Adams decided to allow them to domiante in wide areas and that our centre backs would cope, bit risky but we got away with it, and was quite cute of him really. We look like we'll cope physically which is good, perfomance reminded me of a Parky team in many ways, albeit Parky played a more traditional 4-4-2 back then. Was a good tactical game, I really enjoyed it.

Why wouldn't it be all ticket ? Its our nearest rival and they could easily bring more than we can cater for if it were pay on the day and good weather (assuming away fans are in The Bradford End capacity 1,840). There is still five days to this match, the simple solution is Oldham ask for the rest of the away tickets, come and pick them up today and have four days to sell the other 840 tickets.

    Its not exactly rocket science.

You can still POTD but have to buy a ticket instead of their being cash turnstiles. That's how I understand it anyway.

No it’s not, both as thick and opportunistic as my front door step.

Patel was my MP…..a bloody disgrace to her constituents. Says one thing for a photo op yet in Parliament votes the opposite way, and now I have Truss, who I used to correspond with after I pointed out she loves photo opportunities with Vicars and the WI. Says she supports a campaign to protect a Forest in Upper Norfolk yet votes in the House for building on the Green belt. All of a sudden she stops responding to my letters when her voting record is pointed out on such matters.

Thick as two short planks all of them and so easy to trip up!

    Injuries already that's not good

Thought we were meant to have a strong squad this year doesn't feel like it

Oldham are rubbish though so hopefully we score a couple from open play and start the season properly
