Bloke sits in front of me whose daughter Hanson lived with in Clayton for a while around that 2016 season (he left his Mrs then went back to her when they split up) and he says Jimbo told him there were games he couldn't remember anything of the next day because of the quantity of pain killers he had been dosed on to play.

Tough game, but an entertaining one, a draw probably a fair result on balance. Their formation caused us all sorts of problems and had they been more efficient up top they'd have come away with at least a draw i think. Not seen too many teams play a 3-1-4-1-1 at V.P and we couldnt seem to fully get to grips with it. They constantly left a player out wide and us playing so narrow left both full backs really exposed. Can understand the criticism of FCD but I thought he grew into the game and dealt with it as well as can be expected given his age/experience, playing out of position really and not having a structured formation in front of him for protection. When Evans went off we seemed to try overload the midfield areas in a 4-2-2-2 and whilst we created chances from it on the break, it definitely left us exposed in wide areas. Assume Adams decided on that as a way to counteract us not having enough bodies in midfield, im sure had Songo'o/Sutton been available we'd have played a more conventional 4-3-3 and dealt better then them in wide areas. If we'd just gone 4-4-2 I imagine they'd have overran our two in midfield so think Adams decided to allow them to domiante in wide areas and that our centre backs would cope, bit risky but we got away with it, and was quite cute of him really. We look like we'll cope physically which is good, perfomance reminded me of a Parky team in many ways, albeit Parky played a more traditional 4-4-2 back then. Was a good tactical game, I really enjoyed it.

Adams doesn’t seem to worry about lack of possession apparently Morecambe had the least possession in the league and were one of the top scorers. Direct but exciting to watch

Thats interesting, I didn't know that. May be something we in the crowd will need to become accustomed to/accept. Theres an expectation that as the home team and usually the bigger club in the division we should be dominating possession and always on the front foot, but as we've seen with multiple teams you can relinquish possession, allow the opposition the ball in less dangerous areas and still be effective on the counter/create chances. Even though Oldham dominated possession and caused us problems we undeniably had the better of the chances and could have won comfortably. Or lost, was that kinda game ..:joy:

Possession football can be a complete myth, especially if it’s sideways and backwards possession.

Just to back up the possession stats, here we have Morecambe last season

    https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/9/Seasons/8306/Stages/18827/TeamStatistics/England-League-Two-2020-2021

Furthermore, Morecambe scored most goals in L2 last season on the counter attack..

    Season before..

Other stat, that comes to the fore is number of red cards...

He occupied their best defender who was a blond lad and if you watch the highlights the blond lad gives away the penalty after he tackles Cook and then lunges on Angol

We don't get that penalty if Cook isn't playing well and competing for every ball

Oh and for any naysayers he got a direct assist for the first as well heading on to Angol to score

Cook was a menace and they couldn't deal with him or Angol at times
I think if that's a poor Cook performance then I'm pretty excited about what he's going to contribute

I think in reality it was just an average performance not good not poor

Nobody in the team was poor they all did their job and we got three points

For what it's worth I wouldn't expect us to hammer many teams that just isn't what I see from an Adams side instead I think we'll grind out results just like that 2-1 or 1-0 so we won't be raving about every player every week

Christ it sounds like an NFL footballer, smacked up to feel nothing.

Reminds me of that Netflix documentary on Aaron Hernandez and the talk of all the gear he and other stars in the college football system are given.

Jame's dad told me the same, hence Phil Parkinson comment "give me a James Hanson 70% fit", I'm sure Hanson wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

The hand Angol got in his face I tried to screen shot it several times but that's the nearest I could get, we were discussing the challenge from Piergianni that brough Angol down in the box and this sort of challenge with his arm so high it looks like Piergianni will do anything to stop his man.
If you want to see it in real-time down load Dmitrys full video of the game I thought at the time the refereee should have given him a yellow at least.

I haven’t seen the replay of it but at the time I didn’t think it looked deliberate

No mate it was before that on the Sunwin Stand JCT Main Stand side of the pitch, there was definitely contact from Piergianni's hand in Angol's face.
