They had a four man midfield you would expect them to have more of the ball plus all our ball winners were out

Regardless of not having more possession, which is the most overrated statistic in the sport. If you didn’t enjoy that game and the occasion then watching football isn’t for you imo.

 

Out played and battered yet it took them until the 92nd minute to score. Go figure.

Agree, yesterday was fantastic for many reasons. Even the season ticket scanners worked.

 

Lets hope you are right, because Adams won’t give much away…to the opposition.

 

I didn't ask as I knew Threlkeld was injured but thought better than to ask Eisa why he was not selected at all.

 

I think we need to see a few games to get a real feel for what a good 'Adams performance' looks like. Sacrificing possession to maintain shape and rely on sporadic moments can work well, albeit its not easy on the eye. I'm not convinced that the performance yesterday was this, I just think we struggled to maintain any sort of possession when we had the opportunity.

Nothing wrong with our defending, or character or fitness. But I think we'll need to show a bit more in terms of our ability to control possession and asset pressure at times. At home especially. All that said, yesterday was our first home game, and was a hugely emotional moment which may have had a bearing on the players. Lots to build on, but based on an admittedly limited glimpse, I'm still firmly of the view that we need one or two more quality attacking players.

 

Didn’t Stockton turned us down in favour of staying at Morecambe.

 

Oldham had 65% possession yesterday it means nothing if you can't turn that massive ball retention into goals.

As you say Morecambe had one of the lowest possession stats in the league but were 3rd highest scorers I believe,
We've created chances in all 3 competitive games we've played so far even though we've been wasteful in the final third, I'd prefer to be creating goal scoring chances than not.

 

I said exactly that to the grandson he's trying to make out he's a strong referee and not being influenced by a large crowd, with the name of Steve Martin did you expect anything else.

 

I think at this early stage with so many signings it was just good to get a win yesterday. A solid start with a good away draw at Exeter and a win today. Yes if wasn’t pretty but we need a good foundation for the season and if we get that I think we have a good chance.
