DMH and Guthrie demonstrating what a joke our January window was. Just more shite to add to the huge pile of shite Bowyer had already assembled.

 

The big positive since stuart came in, even though performances haven't been great, is the fact we have scored 4 goals from open play in 2 games. I believe I read the other day that we had gone over 5 hours under bowyer without an open play goal. Also 7 shots on target tonight. Fair play to Stuart.

 

We need to tie Wood down in a longer contract. One of the players of the season definitely

 

Agreed. I thought Reeves had a very good game today. His workrate and engine are phenomenal. The total opposite of Akpan, who shows two or three nice touches per half (just to illustrate the player he could be if he weren't such a lazy get) between long periods of sauntering around, not getting involved, ducking out of tackles and generally being a waste of protoplasm. He's a massive luxury that we can't afford, in any sense.
Interesting that, now Stuart's back, Jake is showing sides to his game that had completely disappeared under Bowyer - forward passes, breaking into the box, having shots at goal. He's a class act at this level, regardless of what @Fordy117 thinks.

 

McCalls comments so far from post match after games are an honest assessment of this current squad. I do think he's surprised at just how low in confidence they are to a point where even basic stuff was unachievable. Talking about making an effort to get bodies in the box for crosses and not wasting possession from throw ins. Jesus wept, this is simple basic stuff that Bowyer should be ridiculed for. Awful manager, truly awful.

 

I wouldn’t have thought twice about it a few years a go but I am in my seventies now and it’s tiring enough night driving on the 64 as it is. Oh come on. Both Henley and Reeves played quite well tonight.

Reeves covered for Akpan all game and Henley was snappy into the tackle.

 

Just watching the highlights (https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/11931956/bradford-3-1-stevenage) Jake Reeves' positioning is phenomenal.

Aside from busting a gut alongside DMH for one attack when he should have been played in, aside from being the man diving for the cross when Connolly broke away at pace, who is the man backing up Shay when he scored the second goal? Reeves. Every chance of scoring that if Shay misses the ball, and who is the man preventing an almost certain goal an almost certain goal from a long throw that eventually led to Novak's goal?

Reeves.

Fair play to Jake, reviewing the footage, he could have been MOTM tonight if Shay hadn't bagged two.

 

He reminds me of the sort of person who front these sales seminars. He's like the football version of David Brent.

 

I would like to see Devitt in there he needs game time I want to see if he is the player he was last year at this level with his assists and goals

 

Don't count on making the Cambridge game if you've touched down in Singapore, you'll be ushered off the plane and in quarantine for 14 days .

 

Nowhere near as often as Akpan does. And Reeves does a hundred other things per game while Akpan is allowing opposition players to run past him as he daydreams about being back in the Championship.
Tackling certainly isn't Reeves' strong suit, but he contributes so much more to the team than Akpan.

 

I don't think some people realised how bad some of those performances were under Bowyer. A fair few tried covering it over with talk of playoff spots but just look at the form of teams like Oldham and Mansfield before and after they played us, woeful bar the games against us. The summer is the only time this mess can be sorted, the last dregs of Rahic and Abbotts recruitment will be no more. Bodge it loans and out of contract garbage can be moved on and some semblance of a plan can be put in place. Anything McCall achieves with this lot come the end of the season is a massive bonus, my expectation levels are very low with this squad.

 

He calls anyone and everyone sh1te, that wasn't Fordy calling anyone out. That was Fordy being Fordy.

That was as bad as anything served up under Bowyer. This squad has no chance of promotion

 

Much improved 2nd half performance, albeit against a woeful Stevenage side.

Maybe McCall is the man to get the best out of McCarten, because he seemed to have more of a roving role, and he was very good in the second half after been so anonymous first half.

I thought Reeves played well tonight, but my MOTM tonight overall was Wood.

 

Akpan was dog shit tonight but he pleased you so that's saying something.

 

Reeves is turning it around under McCall, was good against Grimsby and put a shift in tonight.

Could've had a goal if DMH played him through and has only nature to blame for not getting on the end of Connollys cross.

DMH seems good when it comes to pressing from the front, just needs to work on his decision making.

DMH has hardly played any first team football and obviously got things to learn but he had a decent game tonight used his pace pretty well took people on and got one or two good crosses and was nearly on the end of one or two as well.
