Bit more time with Stuart and I think we'll see a big improvement. If he'd have just made that bloody pass...

It's worrying when you and I agree so much ;) But yes, DMH looks amazingly naive for a player of his age and the fact he's been coached at a higher standard

I think he gives a bit of muscle, but that's about it

Could be that he needs some games though

Forgot about that - was that Reeves?

If it was, fair play to Jake - Reevesy bombed forward when Connolly got away and very nearly connected with a header as he plunged into the goal. Quality!

Where the matches are around 20 minutes - as generally that's all he lasts

That's development squad mentality for you.

I hate the development squad idea, don't think it helps signing a load of players who aren't good enough and putting them against other development squads stuffed with players who aren't good enough - but it does get City fans saying "yeah, but DMH is at Barnsley and they're in the Championship, and they had one or two players out of the development squad so it must be good".

But I'm not getting started on that now that it's well and truly behind us.

(I'll look forward to Barnsley getting relegated back to League One this season)

I said that when we signed him, we've a squad of (generally) losers & wannabees. Of our players, I'd keep Donaldson, Reeves & McCarten, l'm struggling to think of another "quality " player. If Stuart gets this team promoted then he deserves a medal.

First half was appalling, honestly words failed me. We looked second best, last to the ball, we just didn’t have a clue. I thought well Stuart and Kenny have their work cut out for them to try and lift this team! Still not great 2nd half, but we found resilience and a way to win a game. McCarten was really good in the second half as was Connor Wood. So I am going to forget the performance and celebrate a win for a change and goals from open play.

Connolly Mr No End Product... Reeves was screaming for the ball. Reeves is 5ft nothing and Mr No End Product puts a ball in that Donaldson wouldn't have been able to reach.

Edin signed a lot of 'losers' because they'd played a similar or higher level - doesn't matter if they can't win or even influence games, though. You can get the odd loser upping his game if he's in a good team, but that's not what we assembled last year.

I think Bowyer was much better than Abbott and Edin in terms of his recruitment, but his tactics were shocking. Playing to avoid a loss will win you some games, but not enough to be worth enduring.

I think Mellor on paper is a winner, but Wood is about the only player I'd add to your list. Devitt has the potential to be a fifth 'winner', but his time here has been a bit of a nightmare so far. He'll definitely be available on a free in the Summer, no chance Grayson will have any interest in him.

Blxxdy hell over the top criticism or what. DMH has hardly played any first team football and obviously got things to learn but he had a decent game tonight used his pace pretty well took people on and got one or two good crosses and was nearly on the end of one or two as well. One of our better players I would say

Generally, the leagues pretty terrible though. For instance how on earth did this Stevenage team keep Exeter honest for 80 minutes

If we get in the play-offs then we'll have shown some form and to be honest, other than Plymouth I fear none of those in the play-off positions right now

The fact that Northampton are in their, who run Stevenage a close second as the worst team this season to come to VP, illustrate the point

Then again Mansfield will be rightly asking how on earth we are where we are

Resilience when booed at half time was non-existent under Boreyer.

Who said he didn't have a good game?

I'm talking about his mentality and why he picked the wrong option several times.

It's because he's been in a crappy development squad these past few years.

He'd have been better playing for Gateshead in the first team than Barnsley's crappy Dev Squad.

Take a look at yourself fordy it was a lovely run and cross at pace and Reeves who had a good game tonight along with another of your targets McCarten was inches away from it.

I can't remember who it was to be honest!

He played Novak nicely into space at one point though which then led to that short corner which McCartan struck.

Looking back I actually think he created some good opportunities but his decision making was very hit or miss. His deliveries were pretty good though. I think there will be more to come from him once he settles down.

He has been in Barnsley’s development squad which has produced good players. A young player with such little experience is always going to make mistakes which ever way they have been developed
